Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 52) ➊ { قَالُوْا يٰوَيْلَنَا مَنْۢ بَعَثَنَا مِنْ مَّرْقَدِنَا :} That is, at that time they will not realize that they had died and have now been brought back to life; rather, they will think that they were asleep and someone has awakened them. The long period that has passed will seem to them like a moment. See also Surah Bani Isra'il (52) and Rum (55).

{ هٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمٰنُ وَ صَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ :} It is not mentioned here who will say this; it is quite possible that they themselves will realize that this is the very Resurrection that the messengers used to tell us about and we used to deny it, and it is also possible that the believers or the angels will say this to them. It is also possible that Allah Almighty, by making the future present, is now giving this answer.

➌ Here, the word {’’ الرَّحْمٰنُ ‘‘} is not only to remind of His promise, but also to indicate that on that dreadful Day, the manifestations of ninety-nine portions of Allah Almighty’s mercy will be seen, which no one could ever imagine, as He said: «اَلْمُلْكُ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ الْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ » [ الفرقان : ۲۶ ] "On that Day, true sovereignty will belong to the Most Merciful." And He said: « وَ خَشَعَتِ الْاَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ » [ طٰہٰ : ۱۰۸ ] "And all voices will be humbled for the Most Merciful."

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

52. 1. Interpreting the grave as a place of sleep does not mean that there will be no punishment for them in the graves; rather, compared to the terrifying scenes and the intensity of punishment they will witness later, the life in the grave will feel like a dream to them.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

They will say, "Woe to us! Who has raised us from our sleeping place [49]?" (It will be said,) "This is what the Most Merciful [50] had promised, and the messengers spoke the truth."

The Effect of the Second Blowing of the Trumpet:

With the first blowing of the Trumpet, all people will fall unconscious, and in that state of unconsciousness, their death will occur. Then, when the Trumpet is blown a second time, they will rise from their graves. At that moment, they will not know what incident has occurred and where they are standing. It is like when a person has an accident with a bus and falls unconscious, and is taken to the hospital. Then, when he regains consciousness after some time and opens his eyes, he sees: Where am I right now, and how did I get here? He has no knowledge of his unconsciousness. This will be the same condition for those people. Seeing a completely unfamiliar and terrifying environment, the first thing they will say is: We were lying peacefully asleep; who woke us up? They will have no recollection in their minds of anything before their death, nor of the punishment of the grave. Compared to the horrors of the Day of Resurrection, they will consider even that to have been just a dream.

[50] One aspect of this statement is that when they try to understand this environment by exerting their minds, they will themselves realize that this is exactly what the messengers used to tell us, and we used to deny it. And the second aspect is that, in this state of confusion, the believers or the angels will inform them that this is the very day which Allah had promised you, and whenever the messengers used to warn you of Allah’s promise and of this Day of Resurrection, every time you would say: When will that be? So today, see that day with your own eyes.
