Surah Faatir (35) — Ayah 34

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَذْهَبَ عَنَّا ٱلْحَزَنَ ۖ إِنَّ رَبَّنَا لَغَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ ﴿34﴾
And they will say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allâh Who has removed from us (all) grief. Verily, our Lord is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (good deeds and to recompense).
وَقَالُوا۟ waqālū And they (will) say
ٱلْحَمْدُ l-ḥamdu All praises
لِلَّهِ lillahi (be) to Allah
ٱلَّذِىٓ alladhī the One Who
أَذْهَبَ adhhaba (has) removed
عَنَّا ʿannā from us
ٱلْحَزَنَ ۖ l-ḥazana the sorrow
إِنَّ inna Indeed
رَبَّنَا rabbanā our Lord
لَغَفُورٌۭ laghafūrun (is) surely Oft-Forgiving
شَكُورٌ shakūrun Most Appreciative

(Ayah 34) ➊ {وَ قَالُوا الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْۤ اَذْهَبَ عَنَّا الْحَزَنَ :} Ḥuzn is the state of the heart that arises due to the loss of something, that is, sorrow, as He said: « لِكَيْلَا تَاْسَوْا عَلٰى مَا فَاتَكُمْ» [ الحدید : ۲۳ ] "So that you do not grieve over what escapes you." Whatever a person receives in this world is destined to leave his hands, so as long as any blessing remains with a person in this world, he lives in fear that this blessing might be taken away from him, and when it is taken away, he feels sorrow. After entering Paradise and after death has been slaughtered, the people of Paradise will have no fear of any blessing being taken away from them, that is, {’’ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ‘‘} nor any sorrow over a blessing that has been lost, that is, {’’ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ ‘‘} because there will be no decrease in their beauty, nor in their food and drink, nor in their strength and youth, nor in their pleasures, nor in their everlasting residence—so then, what is there to grieve about? That is why they will thank Allah, Who has removed every kind of sorrow from them. Every blessing in this world becomes a cause of sorrow due to its ending; it is only Paradise whose blessings will never become a cause of sorrow. Ibn al-Rumi has said:
{وَ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَلَّا يَرٰي مَا يَسُوْءُهُ ¤ فَلَا يَتَّخِذْ شَيْئًا يُبَالِيْ لَهُ فَقْدًا}
"Whoever wishes not to see anything that brings sorrow, let him not hold on to anything whose loss he fears."

34. And they will say, “All praise is for Allah, who has removed all sorrow from us [39]. Surely, our Lord is Most Forgiving, Most Appreciative.”

[39] This sentence will especially be the practice of the third group of people, who would have spent the entire duration of the Day of Judgment in anxiety, waiting to see what decision would be made regarding them. Then, when they are granted permission to enter Paradise, they will praise Allah with joy, Who has removed all their grief and worries. Indeed, our Lord is truly Most Forgiving and Most Appreciative, Who forgave our mistakes and rewarded us far beyond our deeds. We did not even know what our final abode would be. Praise be to Allah, Who has granted us a place of residence that is everlasting. All kinds of blessings and sustenance are already present, for which we do not have to make any effort or toil.
