Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
Verily, those who recite the Book of Allâh (this Qur’ân), and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and spend (in charity) out of what We have provided for them, secretly and openly, they hope for a (sure) trade-gain that will never perish.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 29) ➊ { اِنَّالَّذِيْنَيَتْلُوْنَكِتٰبَاللّٰهِ … :} After mentioning that it is the scholars who truly fear Allah, three of their qualities are described, and then the reward they will receive is mentioned. The first of these three qualities is the recitation of Allah’s Book, because the source of knowledge about Allah’s essence and attributes is that very Book, and from it is acquired the knowledge that produces fear of Allah. The second and third qualities are establishing prayer and spending from what He has provided, both secretly and openly, acting upon the requirements of this knowledge. These three things are the foundation of knowledge and action, so Allah, while describing the condition of the Jews, stated that they threw Allah’s Book behind their backs: « فَنَبَذُوْهُوَرَآءَظُهُوْرِهِمْ»[ آل عمران : ۱۸۷ ] “So they threw it behind their backs.” And instead of establishing prayer, they neglected it, and instead of spending in Allah’s way, they adopted the habit of following desires, consuming usury, and extreme miserliness. He said: « فَخَلَفَمِنْۢبَعْدِهِمْخَلْفٌاَضَاعُواالصَّلٰوةَوَاتَّبَعُواالشَّهَوٰتِفَسَوْفَيَلْقَوْنَغَيًّا »[ مریم : ۵۹ ] “Then there succeeded them successors who neglected prayer and followed desires, so they will soon meet misguidance.” As a result, they were deprived of that knowledge which produces the fear of Allah.
➋ { يَرْجُوْنَتِجَارَةًلَّنْتَبُوْرَ :} The deeds of those with knowledge and faith are likened to a trade because whenever a person engages in any trade in this world, he invests his capital, effort, and ability with the hope that he will gain profit along with his principal; yet, despite this hope for profit, he also fears loss or even the destruction of his principal. But the servants of Allah, who spend their precious time—which is the capital of their lives—in the transaction of obeying Allah’s commands, are those who hope for nothing but profit in their transaction, with no fear of loss or the destruction of their principal.

The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
29. 1 By "Book of Allah" is meant the Noble Quran; "recite" means to do so regularly and with diligence. 29. 2 The meaning of "establishing prayer" is to perform the prayer as required, i.e., with punctuality, proper fulfillment of its pillars, and with humility and devotion. 29. 3 That is, they spend as needed both openly and secretly, day and night; according to some, "secretly" refers to voluntary charity and "openly" refers to obligatory charity (Zakat). 92. 4 That is, the reward of such people is certain with Allah, in which there is no possibility of decrease or deficiency.

29. Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah, establish prayer, and spend from what We have provided them, secretly and openly, hope for a trade [34] that will never perish.
[34] In this world, whatever a person trades in, he pays immediate attention to it and is sincere in his work, yet there remains a risk of loss. But the sincere servant of Allah who trades with his Lord never faces the fear of loss or harm.
