يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَنزِلُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٱلْغَفُورُ ﴿2﴾

He knows that which goes into the earth and that which comes forth from it, and that which descends from the heaven and that which ascends to it. And He is the Most Merciful, the Oft-Forgiving.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. (Ayah 2) ➊ { يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِي الْاَرْضِ وَ مَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا … :} In this verse, some details of Allah Almighty’s knowledge are described. He knows all things that enter the earth and all that comes out from it, and all that descends from the sky and all that ascends into it—things beyond count and known only to Him. This perfect knowledge of Allah Almighty is also proof that He alone deserves praise; no one else, leaving aside other things, even has complete knowledge of their own self, so how could they be worthy of {’’الحمد‘‘}.

➋ { وَ هُوَ الرَّحِيْمُ الْغَفُوْرُ :} That is, despite being the Owner of everything, the Wise and All-Aware, and having knowledge of every particle, He does not immediately seize His servants for their disobedience, because He alone is the One whose mercy has no limit, nor does His forgiveness. That is why He has granted respite to His servants and does not seize them for even the greatest rebellion before the appointed time.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. He knows whatever enters into the earth and whatever comes out of it, and whatever descends from the sky and whatever ascends into it. He is the Most Merciful and the Most Forgiving [4].

Things That Enter the Earth, Emerge From the Earth, Descend Upon the Earth, and Ascend From the Earth:

The things that enter the earth are: all kinds of plant seeds, rainwater, the dead bodies of all animals, and earth-dwelling insects, etc. And the things that emerge from the earth are, for example, crops, plants, trees, minerals, various types of oils and gases, etc. And the things that descend from the sky are, for example, rain, Allah’s mercy and blessings, divine revelation, angels, etc. And the things that ascend towards the sky are, for example, supplications, angels, the deeds of humans, etc. All these types and their particulars—everything is within Allah’s knowledge.
[4] That is, He does not immediately punish people for their misdeeds. This is a requirement of His mercy, that He gives people time to reform, and whoever reforms, He also forgives their slips.
