➋ {وَ قَدِّرْ فِي السَّرْدِ : ’’ السَّرْدِ ‘‘} to sew or join something thick, like making armor, sewing leather; here it means to arrange the iron rings in order. (Mufradat) To have proportion in joining the rings means that they should not be too small or too large, nor so loose that the joints move excessively, nor so tight or the rivets so thick that a person cannot move while wearing them. Rather, every ring and every joint should fit its place on the body correctly and be arranged properly with each other.
➌ { وَ اعْمَلُوْا صَالِحًا :} In this address, the family of Dawud (David) (peace be upon him) is also included, that is why instead of {’’اِعْمَلْ‘‘}, {’’ اعْمَلُوْا ‘‘} is said.
➍ { اِنِّيْ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ بَصِيْرٌ:} In this, there is both a promise and a warning, meaning whatever you are doing, I am watching it well; I will reward righteous deeds and punish evil deeds.

11. 2 So that they are neither too small nor too large, nor too hard nor too soft, meaning that in joining the rings, the rivets should not be so thin that the joints keep moving and lack firmness and stability, nor so thick that they break it or make the ring so tight that it cannot be worn. These were instructions given to Dawud (عليه السلام) regarding the craft of making coats of mail.
11. 3 That is, in exchange for these blessings, be diligent in righteous deeds so that practical gratitude to Me continues as well. From this, it is understood that whoever Allah bestows with blessings, he should express gratitude to Allah accordingly, and the fundamental thing in gratitude is to make every effort to please the Giver of blessings — that is, to obey Him and avoid disobedience.

[17] Among your righteous deeds, one notable good deed was that despite being a king and a prophet, you did not like to put the burden of your personal expenses on the public treasury. Rather, you used to make coats of mail and live off their earnings, as is clear from the following hadith. Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib says that the Prophet ﷺ said: "No one has ever eaten better food than that which he eats from the work of his own hands, and Allah's Prophet Dawud ؑ used to eat from what he earned with his own hands (by making coats of mail)."
