(Ayah 26) {اَوَ لَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ … :} This statement is regarding the polytheists of Arabia: Has it not guided them that We destroyed so many nations before them, whose ruined remains still exist, in which these people walk about, and their desolation is before their eyes? The reference is to the nations of the prophets who came to Arabia, that is, the people of ‘Ad, Thamud, and the people of Madyan, etc. The people of Arabia used to see their ruins with their own eyes and also heard about the conditions of these nations from their elders, yet they did not take any lesson. Therefore, it is said: «{ اَفَلَا يَسْمَعُوْنَ So do these people not hear what the outcome is for those who disobey the prophets?

26-1. That is, do they not see that the previous nations who were destroyed due to denial and lack of faith no longer exist in the world today, but their dwellings remain, of which these people have become heirs. The purpose of this is to warn the people of Makkah that your fate could be the same if you do not believe.

26. Has it not guided them that We destroyed many generations before them, in whose dwellings they now walk? Surely, there are many signs in this. Do they not listen [28]?

[28] The people of 'Ad, Thamud, and Shu'aib were all nations related to the Arabs. All of them were destroyed, and the people of Arabia would see their ruins with their own eyes and would also hear about the circumstances of these nations from their elders. Yet, they would not take any lesson from them.
