Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 19) ➊ {اَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَلَهُمْ جَنّٰتُ الْمَاْوٰى: ’’ الْمَاْوٰى ‘‘ ’’أَوٰي يَأْوِيْ ‘‘} (ض) (to take a place, to seek refuge, to reside) is a noun of place or a verbal noun, meaning a place of residence or dwelling. That is, for those who believed and did righteous deeds, there are gardens of everlasting abode, not like the world which is a place of decline, nor like Hell which is a place of escape.

{نُزُلًۢا بِمَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ : ’’ نُزُلًا‘‘} Whatever is presented for the hospitality of a guest upon his arrival. When this is the state of hospitality, then what will be the condition of further favors? Some estimation of this can be made from the previous verse: «{ فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَّاۤ اُخْفِيَ لَهُمْ مِّنْ قُرَّةِ اَعْيُنٍ and the hadith of the Messenger: [ مَا لَا عَيْنٌ رَأَتْ وَلَا أُذُنٌ سَمِعَتْ وَلَا خَطَرَ عَلٰی قَلْبِ بَشَرٍ ] [ مسلم : ۲۸۲۴ ]. This is merely the grace and mercy of Allah Almighty that He makes someone's righteous deeds a cause for the hospitality of Paradise for him, otherwise no one's deeds will admit him to Paradise, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ سَدِّدُوْا وَقَارِبُوْا وَأَبْشِرُوْا، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُدْخِلُ أَحَدًا الْجَنَّةَ عَمَلُهُ، قَالُوْا وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِقَالَ وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَّتَغَمَّدَنِيَ اللّٰهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَ رَحْمَةٍ ] [ بخاري، الرقاق، باب القصد و المداومۃ علی العمل : ۶۴۶۷ ] "Be upright, be close, and receive glad tidings, for no one will enter Paradise because of his deeds." The people said, "O Messenger of Allah! Not even you?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Not even me, unless Allah covers me with forgiveness and mercy."
