[46] That is, when none of the deities you have made can create you, or provide your sustenance, or cause your death, or bring you back to life, then what use are they after all? And on what basis do you associate them as partners with Allah? It should be clear that the polytheists of Makkah acknowledged the first three matters among these four mentioned in this verse: that these are deeds performed only by Allah, and their deities have no share in them.
