Surah Ar-Room (30) — Ayah 27

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ وَهُوَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَيْهِ ۚ وَلَهُ ٱلْمَثَلُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ﴿27﴾
And He it is Who originates the creation, then He will repeat it (after it has been perished); and this is easier for Him. His is the highest description (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but He, and there is nothing comparable unto Him) in the heavens and in the earth. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
وَهُوَ wahuwa And He
ٱلَّذِى alladhī (is) the One Who
يَبْدَؤُا۟ yabda-u originates
ٱلْخَلْقَ l-khalqa the creation
ثُمَّ thumma then
يُعِيدُهُۥ yuʿīduhu repeats it
وَهُوَ wahuwa and it
أَهْوَنُ ahwanu (is) easier
عَلَيْهِ ۚ ʿalayhi for Him
وَلَهُ walahu And for Him
ٱلْمَثَلُ l-mathalu (is) the description
ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ l-aʿlā the highest
فِى in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ wal-arḍi and the earth
وَهُوَ wahuwa And He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ l-ʿazīzu (is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُ l-ḥakīmu the All-Wise

(Ayah 27) ➊ { وَ هُوَ الَّذِيْ يَبْدَؤُا الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيْدُهٗ وَ هُوَ اَهْوَنُ عَلَيْهِ :} Allah the Exalted has stated this from the perspective of what the servants say and do, otherwise for Allah, creating the first time and the second time is the same. The meaning is that you admit that He alone created all creatures the first time, and you also understand that for the one who has made something once, it is relatively easier to make it again. Therefore, according to your understanding, for Allah the Exalted, who created all creatures the first time, it should be even easier to create them a second time. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ قَالَ اللَّهُ كَذَّبَنِي ابْنُ آدَمَ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ ذٰلِكَ ، وَشَتَمَنِيْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهُ ذٰلِكَ ، أَمَّا تَكْذِيْبُهُ إِيَّايَ أَنْ يَّقُوْلَ إِنِّيْ لَنْ أُعِيْدَهُ كَمَا بَدَأْتُهُ ، وَأَمَّا شَتْمُهُ إِيَّايَ أَنْ يَّقُوْلَ اتَّخَذَ اللّٰهُ وَلَدًا، وَأَنَا الصَّمَدُ الَّذِيْ لَمْ أَلِدْ وَلَمْ أُوْلَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لِّيْ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ ] [ بخاري، التفسیر، باب قولہ : « اللہ الصمد » ۴۹۷۵، ۴۹۷۴ ] "Allah the Exalted said, 'The son of Adam has denied Me, though he had no right to do so, and he has abused Me, though he had no right to do so. His denying Me is his saying that He (Allah) will not recreate me as He created me the first time, and his abusing Me is his saying that Allah has taken a child, whereas I am Alone, Self-Sufficient, I did not beget nor was I begotten, and there is none comparable to Me.'"

➋ By { وَ لَهُ الْمَثَلُ الْاَعْلٰى فِي السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ :’’ الْمَثَلُ ‘‘} is meant here attribute and majesty, that is, whether it is the earth or the sky, in the entire universe the highest attribute and the loftiest majesty belongs only to Him. By bringing {’’ لَهُ ‘‘} first, exclusivity is established, therefore it is translated as "and in the heavens and the earth, the highest majesty is His alone." Tabari has mentioned with an authentic chain the statement of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): [ قَوْلُهُ : « وَ لَهُ الْمَثَلُ الْاَعْلٰى فِي السَّمٰوٰتِ » يَقُوْلُ : «لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهٖ شَيْءٌ » ] that this verse under commentary is like Allah's statement: «{ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهٖ شَيْءٌ [ الشورٰی : ۱۱ ] "There is nothing like unto Him." That is, the highest of high attributes and the loftiest of lofty majesty belong only to Him, there is nothing like unto Him. No thing in the earth and the heavens, in beauty and excellence, can be compared to Allah the Exalted's majesty and attributes, in fact, there is no relation at all, because if any thing possesses any excellence, it is only by His bestowal.

{ وَ هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ :} By the predicate coming as a definite noun with "al-", exclusivity is established, that is, He alone is the One who prevails over all. He does whatever He wills, nothing is difficult for Him, nor can anyone hinder His will, but along with being dominant, He is also perfect in wisdom. His dominance is not like the blind man's stick, rather it is full of perfect wisdom.

27. And He is the One who originates the creation, then He will repeat it, and this (second creation) is even easier for Him. His is the highest attribute in the heavens and the earth [27], and He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
