Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 68) {اِنَّ اَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِاِبْرٰهِيْمَ …:} The meaning is that if you call Ibrahim (peace be upon him) a Jew or a Christian in the sense that his Shariah resembles your Shariah, then this too is incorrect, because after the followers of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), the closest to him are this Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and those who believe in him. In this regard, Muslims have more right than you to say that we are upon the way that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was upon.
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: [ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ وُلاَةً مِنَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ وَ إِنَّ وَلِيِّيْ أَبِيْ وَ خَلِيْلُ رَبِّيْ ] “Every prophet has some friends among the prophets with whom he has a special relationship, and my (special) friend is my father and the Khalil of my Lord.” Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited this verse. [ترمذی، تفسیر القرآن، باب و من سورۃ آل عمران : ۲۹۹۵۔ صحیح ]

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

68. 1. For this reason, in the Noble Quran, the Prophet ﷺ has been commanded to follow the religion of Ibrahim. In addition, it is mentioned in the hadith that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: (Every prophet has friends among the prophets, my friend among them is my father and the Khalil of my Lord (Ibrahim عليه السلام)).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Indeed, the people who are closest to Abraham are those who followed him, and this Prophet, and those who believe [61]. And Allah is the Protector and Helper of the believers.

[61] In terms of beliefs and actions, those people were closer to Ibrahim (peace be upon him) who were his followers, or now this Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his followers. Thus, such people possess two qualities: firstly, they are not polytheists, and secondly, they carry out all the commands of Allah Almighty and are completely obedient to Allah. Probably in this connection, the Durood that was taught to the Ummah of Muhammad to be recited in prayer contains similar words, and it is an explanation of this very verse.
«اللهم صل على محمد و على آل محمد كما صليت على ابراهيم و على آل ابراهيم انك حميد مجيد. اللهم بارك على محمد و على آل محمد كما باركت على ابراهيم و على آل ابراهيم انك حميد مجيد»
