وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَىَّ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَلِأُحِلَّ لَكُم بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى حُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَجِئْتُكُم بِـَٔايَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ﴿50﴾
And I have come confirming that which was before me of the Taurât (Torah), and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you, and I have come to you with a proof from your Lord. So fear Allâh and obey me.
وَمُصَدِّقًۭا wamuṣaddiqan And confirming
لِّمَا limā that which
بَيْنَ bayna (was)
يَدَىَّ yadayya before me
مِنَ mina of
ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ l-tawrāti the Taurat
وَلِأُحِلَّ wali-uḥilla and so that I make lawful
لَكُم lakum for you
بَعْضَ baʿḍa some
ٱلَّذِى alladhī (of) that which
حُرِّمَ ḥurrima was forbidden
عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ ʿalaykum to you
وَجِئْتُكُم waji'tukum And I (have) come to you
بِـَٔايَةٍۢ biāyatin with a sign
مِّن min from
رَّبِّكُمْ rabbikum your Lord
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ fa-ittaqū So fear
ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah
وَأَطِيعُونِ wa-aṭīʿūni and obey me

At the time of Isa (Jesus) عليه السلام, several difficult rulings from the Torah were suspended; the rest remained as the Torah’s law. (Muwaddih) Isa عليه السلام was not sent with a separate, independent law, but rather to affirm and confirm the Mosaic law and to invite the Children of Israel to act upon the Torah. However, among his purposes of being sent was also to declare lawful, by Allah’s command, some things in the Torah that had been made unlawful for them as a form of severity, such as camel meat and the fat of lawful animals, etc. Some scholars have said that Isa عليه السلام only declared lawful those things which the Jews themselves had made unlawful due to their disputes and hair-splitting. 50. 1. By this is meant either those certain things which Allah Almighty made forbidden for them as a punishment, or those things which their scholars declared forbidden through ijtihad, and in their ijtihad they made a mistake.
