Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 176) The disbelievers and hypocrites continued to oppose the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in various ways, which naturally caused him distress, especially as the hypocrites greatly exaggerated the incident of the Battle of Uhud and tried to make the Muslims despair of Allah’s help. Upon this, these verses were revealed and he (peace be upon him) was consoled that such opposition from the disbelievers cannot harm Islam in any way; rather, by adopting such an attitude, they are themselves being deprived of their share in the Hereafter.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

176. 1. The Prophet ﷺ had a strong desire that everyone should become Muslim, and that is why their denial and rejection caused him great distress. Allah Almighty has comforted him ﷺ that he should not be saddened; they cannot harm Allah in any way, they are only ruining their own Hereafter.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

176. (O Prophet!) Let not those who hasten into disbelief [174] grieve you. They will not harm Allah in the least. Allah only intends that He should give them no share in the Hereafter, and for them is a great punishment.

[174] In that era, all the nations besides the Muslims were enemies of Islam and intent on eradicating it, whether they were the polytheists of Makkah, the Jews of Madinah, the hypocrites, or other Arab tribes. All of them were making every possible effort to crush Islam. Allah, comforting His Messenger, says that they have no power to harm you or Islam in any way. They are only ruining their own Hereafter. You do not need to be concerned about them. The second thing that truly saddened you was that, despite your utmost efforts, these people neither tried to understand Islam nor made any attempt to come closer to it or accept it, and this greatly distressed you. This matter has been mentioned at several places in the Quran. In response, Allah comforted His beloved Prophet by saying that your duty is only to convey Allah’s message and to warn the people. Now, if these people do not desist from their actions, the consequences will fall upon them, and you have no responsibility beyond delivering My message.
