(They are) those who are patient, those who are true (in Faith, words, and deeds), and obedient with sincere devotion in worship to Allâh. Those who spend [give the Zakât and alms in the Way of Allâh] and those who pray and beg Allâh’s Pardon in the last hours of the night.

(Ayah 17) ➊ {”اَلصّٰبِرِيْنَ“} Those who are patient in doing good, in avoiding sin, and in enduring hardships. These are the three types of patience. {’’ وَالصّٰدِقِيْنَ ‘‘ } Those who are truthful in intention, speech, and action, obedient to commands, those who spend their wealth, lives, children, and every blessing given by Allah, and despite doing all this, instead of becoming proud of their worship in the last hours of the night (Sahar), they seek forgiveness for their shortcomings.
➋ From this verse, the virtue of seeking forgiveness at Sahar (the last part of the night) is especially known. (See Dhariyat: 15 to 18) The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven every night when the last third of the night remains, and says: 'Who is there to supplicate to Me so that I may answer his supplication? 17. They are those who are patient, truthful, obedient, spend (in Allah’s way), and seek forgiveness [20] in the last part of the night.
[20] The Attributes of the God-Fearing:
In this verse, five attributes of such God-fearing people are mentioned. The first attribute is patience. Patience is a comprehensive term that is generally applied in two ways. First, that when a calamity befalls, one refrains from panic and endures it cheerfully for the sake of Allah’s pleasure, and does not utter any words or commit any actions that are against Allah’s pleasure. Second, that one strives to move forward, enduring the difficulties and hardships encountered in the path of religion with cheerfulness; in other words, this is also called steadfastness, which is a type of patience. The second attribute is being truthful. The term “truthful” does not only apply to a person who habitually speaks the truth, but also to one who is upright in all his dealings, and avoids breaches of trust and deceit. The third attribute is submitting to the commands and prohibitions of the Shariah. The fourth attribute is spending in the way of Allah from the wealth and riches granted by Allah. The fifth attribute is that, instead of becoming proud after performing these deeds, one seeks forgiveness from Allah, the best time for which is the last part of the night, as is mentioned in authentic hadiths: Allah Almighty descends to the lowest heaven in the last part of the night and says: “Who is there who supplicates to Me so that I may accept his supplication? Who is there who asks of Me so that I may grant him? Who is there who seeks forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive his sins?” [بخاری، کتاب الدعوات، باب الدعاء نصف اللیل]
