Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 115) {وَ مَا يَفْعَلُوْا مِنْ خَيْرٍ …:} That is, among the People of the Book, whoever is characterized by the aforementioned qualities will not only receive the reward for their good deeds performed after embracing Islam, but will also be granted the reward for the good deeds done before entering Islam. As mentioned in a hadith: "Three people will receive a double reward: one of them is a person from the People of the Book who believed in his prophet and then also believed in me, so he will have two rewards; the second is a slave who is owned by someone, fulfills the rights of Allah and also the rights of his masters, for him too there are two rewards; and the third is a man who taught his slave-girl good manners and taught her well, then freed her and married her, so for him too there are two rewards." [ بخاری، العلم، باب تعلیم الرجل أمتہ وأھلہ : ۹۷۔ مسلم : ۱۵۴ ] And see Surah Al-Hadid (28).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

115. 1. That is, not all the People of the Book are as those whose condemnation was mentioned in the previous verses; rather, among them are some good people whom Allah has honored with the dignity of Islam, and in whom the qualities of faith and piety are found, رضی اللہ عنھم ورضو عنہ. The meaning of "قائمۃ" is those who obey the Shariah and follow the Noble Prophet ﷺ. "یسجدون" means they stand in prayer at night, that is, they perform Tahajjud and recite during the prayers. At this place, some have interpreted "امر بالمعروف" to mean that they command belief in the Prophet ﷺ and forbid opposing him ﷺ. This same group is also mentioned further ahead

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

115. Whatever good they do will not go unappreciated [104], and Allah knows well those who are mindful of Him.

Previous Sins Are Forgiven Upon Accepting Islam, But the Reward for Good Deeds Will Be Granted:

That is, the fair-minded people among the People of the Book who have embraced Islam will be rewarded for the good deeds they performed before accepting Islam. Because there are two benefits of accepting Islam, and these are established from authentic ahadith. First, that the sins committed before accepting Islam are forgiven, and second, that the good deeds performed before accepting Islam are preserved, meaning they will also be rewarded for the good deeds done during the period of disbelief. And the case of disbelievers is the opposite: their good deeds are wasted and their sins remain obligatory upon them.
