Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 111) In {اِلَّاۤاَذًى:}{”اَذًى“}, the tanween is for reduction and belittlement, therefore the translation is "a slight harm." What is meant are verbal slanders and conspiracies, but they will not be able to stand against you in the field; and so it happened. The Jews were defeated everywhere against the Muslims and had to face humiliation, and finally, the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions exiled them from the Arabian Peninsula. This verse contains information of the unseen and a prophecy, and Allah Almighty has given glad tidings of victory, success, and help in it. Now, although the Jews, with the support of the Christians, have occupied some parts of Palestine and Jerusalem, the time is near when, in the war between the Muslims and the Jews, even stones and trees will call out to the Muslim, saying: "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, kill him." [ مسلم، الفتن، باب لا تقوم الساعۃ حتی… : ۲۹۲۱، ۲۹۲۲ ]
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
111. 1. This refers to verbal slander, which certainly causes temporary pain to the heart, however, in the field of battle and conflict, they will not be able to defeat you. And so it happened: the Jews had to leave Madinah, then Khaybar was conquered and they left from there as well. Similarly, in the regions of Syria, Christians had to face defeat at the hands of the Muslims, until in the Crusades the Christians tried to take revenge and even occupied Bayt al-Maqdis, but Salahuddin Ayyubi reclaimed it after 90 years. But now, as a result of the weakness of the Muslims’ faith, due to the joint conspiracies and efforts of the Jews and Christians, Bayt al-Maqdis has once again slipped from the hands of the Muslims. However, a time will come when this situation will change, especially after the descent of ‘Isa ؑ, the end of Christianity and the dominance of Islam is certain, as has been mentioned in Sahih ahadith. (Ibn Kathir)
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
111. They can do you no harm except for a little annoyance [101]. If they fight you, they will turn their backs and flee, and then they will not be helped from anywhere.
[101] That is, they can only abuse, speak ill, conspire against you, spread false propaganda, and engage in other acts of harassment, and such actions are usually done by a party that is mentally defeated. As for coming forward like brave men to face you, they do not have the strength for that, and if they do, they will be badly beaten and will flee. And at that time, even the hypocrites who make deals with them and promise to come to their aid will not be able to help them. This prophecy regarding the People of the Book was fulfilled word for word.
The Fate of the Jews:
First, the Jewish tribe of Banu Qaynuqa was exiled. Then Banu Nadir, and when it was the turn of Banu Qurayza, they were killed and taken as slaves. Then, after being defeated at Khaybar, they remained as tenant farmers, and eventually, Hazrat Umarؓ expelled them from there. The Christians of Najran accepted to pay jizya and began to live as dhimmis. In short, in every field, these people suffered defeat and were humiliated and disgraced. Then, would it not have been better for them to accept Islam and live an honorable life, sharing equally in all the rights of the Muslims?
