Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 106) {اَكَفَرْتُمْ بَعْدَ اِيْمَانِكُمْ:} Apparently, this refers to apostates, but in reality, it includes all disbelievers, because it is established that at the very beginning, everyone acknowledged Allah Almighty as Lord, and in the hadith it is also stated that every person is born upon the natural religion, therefore, whoever adopts disbelief does so only after having believed. That is why the scholars have written that in this verse, original disbelievers, apostates, hypocrites, and then the people of innovation are all included, because all of them are disbelieving after having believed. (Razi, Shawkani) Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) writes: "It is understood that those whose faces are blackened are those who disbelieve while being Muslims, who utter the words of Islam with their mouths but hold contrary beliefs; this is the ruling for all misguided sects." (Muwadhih)

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

16. 1. Hazrat Ibn Abbas ؓ has interpreted this as referring to Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah and Ahl al-Bid'ah wa'l-Iftiraq (Ibn Kathir and Fath al-Qadeer), from which it is understood that Islam is that upon which Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah act, and Ahl al-Bid'ah and Ahl al-Iftiraq are deprived of this blessing of Islam which is the means of salvation.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

106. On the Day when some faces will be bright and some faces will be dark, it will be said to those whose faces are dark: "Did you disbelieve after having believed [97]? Then taste the punishment for what you used to disbelieve."

Sectarianism is Disbelief:

In the previous verse, the mention was of the true sect and the misguided sects. In this verse, the meaning of adopting disbelief after having faith is not that they became Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, etc. Rather, it means that by including many baseless and false things in their religion, or by denying some essentials of the faith, or by adopting atheistic beliefs, they departed from the true religion. This is disbelief less than outright disbelief, and all these matters are referred to by the word "kufr" (disbelief). Thus, on the Day of Resurrection, only those faces will be bright who remained steadfast and firm upon the true religion. And these are the people who will be under the shade of Allah's mercy, while those who, by joining misguided sects, adopted the path of disbelief—their faces will be blackened, and they will have a painful punishment.
