Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 101) ➊ {وَ كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُوْنَ … :} Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "There was a war between Aws and Khazraj during the time of ignorance. Once, while they were sitting together, they began to mention what had happened between them, so both became angry and stood up to fetch weapons to confront each other. Then this verse was revealed: «وَ كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُوْنَ وَ اَنْتُمْ تُتْلٰى عَلَيْكُمْ اٰيٰتُ اللّٰهِ وَ فِيْكُمْ رَسُوْلُهٗ» [ ابن أبی حاتم : 110/3، ح : ۳۹۴۸۔ طبری ]

{وَ اَنْتُمْ تُتْلٰى عَلَيْكُمْ اٰيٰتُ اللّٰهِ وَ فِيْكُمْ رَسُوْلُهٗ:} That is, it is very unlikely that you would commit disbelief, because Allah's verses are being recited to you, His Messenger is present among you in person, and whoever holds firmly to Allah will certainly be guided to a straight path. The direct addressees are the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), but the admonition applies to all Muslims. Today, although the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is not present among us in person, Allah's Book, that is, the Noble Qur'an, and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are present, and by adhering to them, Muslims can remain safe from the tribulations of the present age and every kind of innovation and misguidance. Now, to believe in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) without having seen him and to act upon the Book and Sunnah is a cause of great reward. Ibn Muhairiz says that I said to Abu Jam'ah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Tell us a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He said: "Yes, I will tell you an excellent hadith. We had breakfast with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with us. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Is there anyone better than us? We accepted Islam with you and fought jihad with you?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Yes, those who will come after you, they will believe in me even though they have not seen me.'" [ أحمد : 106/4، ح : ۱۶۹۷۸، ۱۶۹۷۹، و سندہ صحیح ]

Besides Imam Ahmad, Abu Nu'aym, Hakim, and Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili have also narrated it. In the commentary of the opening verses of Surah Al-Baqarah «يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْغَيْبِ », Hafiz Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) has mentioned several hadiths of this meaning, which prove that now the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is not present among us, but now we will believe in the unseen and act upon the Qur'an and Sunnah. For further details, see Surah Al-Hujurat (7).

[91] In other words, there are two ways to avoid the misleading propaganda of the Jews. One is that Allah Almighty warns the Muslims in time about their conspiracies, and the other is that in such situations, Muslims should immediately turn to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who himself keeps a deep and compassionate watch over the conditions of the Muslims. Therefore, whoever strives to avoid the mischief of the Jews and to remain steadfast on the straight path, Allah Almighty will surely save him from such seditions.
