The Scope of the Meaning of Patience; Patience is Foremost Among Moral Values, and Reliance on Allah is Second:
Among good deeds, patience is foremost. The word "patience" is used in a very broad sense. That is, to endure the difficulties encountered in the path of Allah with cheerfulness for the sake of Allah's pleasure is also patience. To remain steadfast in adhering to the commands of Shariah is also patience. And to not consider the loss of material interests as significant is also patience. Among good deeds, the second mentioned is reliance on Allah. Reliance on Allah means to have faith in those promises which Allah has made to His obedient servants, especially in situations where the apparent means for the fulfillment of those promises seem to be absent.
