Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 18) ➊ {وَاِنْتُكَذِّبُوْافَقَدْكَذَّبَاُمَمٌمِّنْقَبْلِكُمْ:} The conjunction "waaw" indicates that the previous sentence, to which this sentence is connected, is omitted, i.e., {’’فَإِنْتُصَدِّقُوْنِيْفَقَدْفُزْتُمْبِسَعَادَةِالدَّارَيْنِ‘‘} "So if you affirm me, then you have succeeded in attaining happiness in this world and the Hereafter." {’’ وَاِنْتُكَذِّبُوْا …‘‘} And if you deny me, then for admonition it is sufficient for you to know that many nations before you denied their prophets, such as the people of Nuh, ‘Ad, Thamud, etc., so what was their outcome? Did they harm the prophets in any way, or did they only ruin their own fate? ➋ { وَمَاعَلَىالرَّسُوْلِاِلَّاالْبَلٰغُالْمُبِيْنُ :} And the only responsibility of the Messenger is to convey Allah’s message in such a way that no doubt remains; he is not responsible for anyone accepting or rejecting it.

18-1. This could also be the statement of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), which he said to his people. Or it is the statement of Allah Almighty in which there is an address to the people of Makkah, and in it, the Prophet ﷺ is being consoled that if the disbelievers of Makkah are denying you, then there is no need to be distressed by this; this is what has always happened with the prophets. Previous nations also denied the messengers and as a result, they suffered destruction and ruin.
18-2. Therefore, you should continue the work of preaching. Whether anyone is guided by it or not, you are not responsible for this, nor will you be questioned about it, because giving guidance or not is only in the power of Allah, who, according to His practice, grants guidance to the one in whom He sees a sincere desire for guidance. He leaves others wandering in the darkness of misguidance.

18. And if you deny, then many nations [30] before you also denied (their messengers). The duty of the Messenger is only to deliver the message clearly.
[30] That is, the people of Nuh ؑ, the people of 'Ad, and the people of Thamud denied the call of their respective prophets, then see what happened to them. The same is going to happen to you. If you have denied the call of the Prophet, then its harm will befall you alone, and the Prophet has fulfilled his responsibility.
