Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 13) ➊ { وَ لَيَحْمِلُنَّ اَثْقَالَهُمْ وَ اَثْقَالًا مَّعَ اَثْقَالِهِمْ:} That is, they are liars; they cannot lighten their burden even by a speck, rather they are making their own burden heavier. First, they will bear the burden of their own personal sins, and second, along with that, the sins of those whom they led astray, although there will be no reduction in their burdens. (See An-Nahl: 25) Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: : ۲۶۷۴ ] "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward like the rewards of those who follow him, without that detracting from their rewards in the slightest, and whoever calls to misguidance will bear a sin like the sins of those who follow him, without that detracting from their sins in the slightest." Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ لاَ تُقْتَلُ نَفْسٌ ظُلْمًا إِلاَّ كَانَ عَلَي ابْنِ آدَمَ الْأَوَّلِ كِفْلٌ مِنْ دَمِهَا، لِأَنَّهُ أَوَّلُ مَنْ سَنَّ الْقَتْلَ ] [ بخاري، أحادیث الأنبیاء، باب خلق آدم و ذریتہ : ۳۳۳۵ ] "No soul is killed unjustly except that the first son of Adam bears a share of its blood, because he was the first to initiate killing."

{ وَ لَيُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ … :} That is, the false claims they make that they will bear your burden are themselves a separate sin; they will also be punished for this fabrication. For this, they will also be questioned, which in itself is an extremely dreadful stage.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

13-1 That is, these leaders of disbelief and callers to misguidance will not only bear their own burden, but also the burden of those people who were led astray by their efforts and endeavors. This subject has also been mentioned in Surah An-Nahl. In the hadith, it is stated: Whoever calls towards guidance, for him will be the reward of his own good deeds as well as the reward of the good deeds of those who follow his guidance until the Day of Judgment, without any decrease in their reward. And whoever is a caller to misguidance, for him will be his own sins as well as the burden of the sins of those who, because of him, choose the path of misguidance until the Day of Judgment, without any decrease in their sins. According to this same principle, the sin of the blood of those who are unjustly killed until the Day of Judgment will be upon Adam's (AS) first son (Qabil), because he was the first to commit unjust murder.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

13. They will surely bear their own burdens, and along with them, the burdens of others [22] whom they led astray. And on the Day of Resurrection [23], they will surely be questioned about what they used to fabricate.

[22]
In What Case is the Punishment and Reward of Another Person?

However, it can happen that if someone goes astray due to the misleading of these people, then the one who goes astray will be given the punishment for his own misguidance. And the one who misleads will receive double punishment in such a way that, firstly, he will have to bear the punishment for his own misguidance, and secondly, he will also be given the proportional share of the punishment of the one whom he led astray. As the following hadith fully clarifies this subject:
Munzir bin Jarir narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever introduces a good way in Islam, for him is the reward of his own action and also the reward of those who act upon it after him, and there will be no decrease in the reward of those who act. And whoever introduces a bad way in Islam, upon him is the burden of his own action and also the burden of those who act upon it after him. But there will be no decrease in the burden of those who act." [مسلم۔ کتاب الزکوٰۃ۔ باب الحث علی الصدقة]

[23] The statement of the polytheists is a slander against Allah in the sense that they actually mocked the belief in the Hereafter, accountability, and the punishment for sins as explained by Allah. This amounts to denying the signs of Allah and His Messenger as well. That is, in addition to their own polytheistic deeds, this is an added crime of slandering Allah, and they will be questioned and punished for this crime as well.
