Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 10) ➊ { وَ اَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ اُمِّ مُوْسٰى فٰرِغًا:} Above, the condition of those who found the child was mentioned; now the condition of the one from whom he was separated is being mentioned. Ibn Abi Hatim has narrated with an authentic chain from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said in its explanation: [ فَارِغًا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ غَيْرِ ذِكْرِ مُوْسٰی] "The mother of Musa (peace be upon him) became so restless that her heart became empty of everything except the remembrance of Musa."

{ اِنْ كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِيْ بِهٖ:} This {’’ اِنْ ‘‘} is originally {’’إِنَّ‘‘}, whose subject is omitted. The evidence for this is the lam that comes in {’’ لَتُبْدِيْ بِهٖ ‘‘}. If the omitted is made apparent, the phrase would be: {’’إِنَّهَا كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِيْ بِهِ‘‘} meaning, due to restlessness, she was about to reveal the matter, that alas, I have thrown my child into the river with my own hands.

{ لَوْ لَاۤ اَنْ رَّبَطْنَا عَلٰى قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ:} That is, to keep her faith firm on the promise We made to her that {’’ اِنَّا رَاۤدُّوْهُ اِلَيْكِ ‘‘} (We will return him to you), We fastened her heart with patience and gave her reassurance. If this had not been the case, she was about to reveal the secret of the child herself, but due to Our fastening, she remained steadfast.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

10-1. That is, her heart became free (empty) from everything and every thought, and only one concern, that is, the grief of Musa (عليه السلام), filled her heart, which in Urdu is expressed as restlessness.

10-2. That is, due to the intensity of grief, she would have revealed that this was her child, but Allah strengthened her heart, upon which she exercised patience and became certain that the promise Allah made to return Musa (عليه السلام) safely would be fulfilled.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And the heart of Moses' mother became empty (with anxiety). She was about to disclose (his identity), had We not strengthened her heart so that she would be among the believers (in Our promise to return him to her) [16].

The Restlessness of the Mother of Musa:

The mother of Musa, after entrusting Hazrat Musaؑ to the waves of the river according to the revelation, became extremely restless afterward. A mother's affection would not let her find peace. Many times, she thought in her heart to tell people that she had put her child in the river, so that someone might take pity on her and bring him back to her from there. In such a case, many kinds of dangers could be seen. Then, in the revelation, this promise was also made that soon the child would be returned to her. With this thought, her heart would find some degree of comfort again. It was only Allah's mercy that He granted peace to the heart of the mother of Musa and this secret was not revealed. Now she was certain that in just a few days, her child would be returned to her, even though no way for this was apparent in her mind.
