مَن جَآءَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَا وَهُم مِّن فَزَعٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ ءَامِنُونَ ﴿89﴾
Whoever brings a good deed (i.e. Belief in the Oneness of Allâh along with every deed of righteousness), will have better than its worth; and they will be safe from the terror on that Day.
مَن man Whoever

فَلَهُۥ falahu then for him
خَيْرٌۭ khayrun (will be) better

(Ayah 89) ➊ {مَنْ جَآءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهٗ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَا:} By virtue is meant every good deed. Some commentators have taken this to mean {’’ لاَ اِلٰهَ إِلاَّ اللّٰهُ ‘‘}, some have taken it to mean sincerity, and some have taken it to mean the fulfillment of obligations, but it is better to keep it general, because there is no reason for specification. (Shawkani) By {’’ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَا ‘‘} is meant from ten times up to seven hundred times, and in fact, due to greater sincerity and excellence in performance, it can even be without measure.
➋ The tanween on { وَ هُمْ مِّنْ فَزَعٍ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ اٰمِنُوْنَ: ’’ فَزَعٍ ‘‘} is for magnification, meaning that on that Day they will be safe from the great terror, as He said: «{ لَا يَحْزُنُهُمُ الْفَزَعُ الْاَكْبَرُ [ الأنبیاء : ۱۰۳ ] "The greatest terror will not grieve them." If there is a lesser degree of terror, it does not contradict this verse, as has been mentioned in verse (87).

89-1. That is, they will be safe from the real and great terror.

89. Whoever brings a good deed [98] on that Day will receive better than it, and such people will be safe from the terror [99] of that Day.

[98] Here, "goodness" refers to faith and righteous deeds. The general rule or law of Allah regarding the reward for good deeds is that for every good deed, He grants ten times more reward, and this is His grace and favor upon His righteous servants. [6: 16] Then, if any deed is performed with utmost sincerity and solely for the pleasure of Allah, and it is also preserved afterwards, Allah Almighty can grant its reward seven hundred times or even more. [2: 261]
[99] There will be two reasons why the believers will not be overcome by fear: first, whatever happens on that day will be in accordance with their expectations and their faith, and when a person is forewarned of an event, he may take precautions against it but does not become frightened by it. Second, they will be receiving the reward for their good deeds in excess of their expectations. In this respect, it will be an occasion for happiness, not for fear.
