Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 74) {وَ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُوْرُهُمْ … :} That is, the reason for the delay in punishment is not that Allah does not know their deeds; surely your Lord knows what their hearts conceal and what they reveal. The word "Rabb" explains the reason for delay and respite, and in the statement that He knows everything hidden in their hearts and everything they make apparent, there is a severe warning as well, just as when someone is being scolded, it is said, "I am watching your actions." Knowing hidden matters is indeed unique to Allah, and even knowing people's apparent deeds is also unique to the Lord Almighty. No one else can even listen to so many people's words at one time; how could anyone else be aware of their every action? See also Surah Ra'd (10), Hud (5), and Ta-Ha (7).

Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. And indeed, your Lord knows well what their hearts conceal and what they reveal. [78]

[78] Their verbal demand is why the punishment does not come quickly. But the motives behind this demand, and what they harbor in their hearts and understand within themselves, they do not express these things before you. Allah knows well the hidden malice and impure intentions in their hearts.
