(Ayah 51,50) {وَمَكَرُوْامَكْرًاوَّمَكَرْنَامَكْرًا … :} Their plot was the scheme upon which they had sworn mutual oaths, and Allah’s plan was that, just as with other prophets, He safely brought out Salih (peace be upon him) and his companions from there. No sooner had they left than a severe earthquake struck that city, in fact, the entire region of the people of Thamud, as He said: «{ فَاَخَذَتْهُمُالرَّجْفَةُ }»[ الأعراف : ۷۸ ] “So the earthquake seized them.” Along with it was a terrifying shriek, as He said: «{ وَاَخَذَالَّذِيْنَظَلَمُواالصَّيْحَةُ } »[ ھود : ۶۷۔ القمر : ۳۱ ] “And those who had wronged were seized by the shriek.” By which their settlements were destroyed, and those nine (9) mischief-makers and the people of their nation were all destroyed.

50. So they devised a plot, and We too devised a plan, but they were not aware [51].
[51] When these people were swearing oaths upon this scheme, Allah revealed to Prophet Salih ؑ that he should immediately migrate from this town with his family and the believers. Thus, he set out towards Palestine, taking 120 people with him, and reached near Ramla. No sooner had he left the town than a severe earthquake struck not only that city but the entire region of the people of Thamud, accompanied by terrifying sounds and screams. The earthquake was so intense that it turned their houses, which were built in the mountains, into ruins, and the people themselves were destroyed by this very punishment.
