أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ ﴿5﴾
They are those for whom there will be an evil torment (in this world). And in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (are) the ones
لَهُمْ lahum for them
سُوٓءُ sūu (is) an evil
ٱلْعَذَابِ l-ʿadhābi [the] punishment
وَهُمْ wahum and they
فِى in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ l-ākhirati the Hereafter
هُمُ humu [they]
ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ l-akhsarūna (will be) the greatest losers

(Ayah 5) {اُولٰٓىِٕكَ الَّذِيْنَ لَهُمْ سُوْٓءُ الْعَذَابِ …:} This is a severe punishment even in this world, that despite wealth and children, they do not attain contentment and peace of heart. He said: «{ وَ مَنْ اَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِيْ فَاِنَّ لَهٗ مَعِيْشَةً ضَنْكًا وَّ نَحْشُرُهٗ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ اَعْمٰى [ طٰہٰ : ۱۲۴ ] "And whoever turns away from My remembrance, then surely for him is a constricted life, and We will raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection." Rather, that wealth and children become a cause of punishment for them, as He said: «{ فَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ اَمْوَالُهُمْ وَ لَاۤ اَوْلَادُهُمْ اِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللّٰهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ بِهَا فِي الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا وَ تَزْهَقَ اَنْفُسُهُمْ وَ هُمْ كٰفِرُوْنَ [ التوبۃ : ۵۵ ] "So let not their wealth and their children impress you; Allah only intends to punish them through them in the life of this world and that their souls should depart while they are disbelievers." Besides this, this punishment comes upon different individuals and nations in various forms. Diseases, poverty, insecurity, killing and bloodshed, and dominance of the enemy—there are countless forms of punishment. Then, at the time of death, there is punishment at the hands of the angels and the stage of punishment in Barzakh, and there is no end to the punishment of the Hereafter. Allah Almighty has declared such people to be the greatest losers in the Hereafter.

[5] The lives of such people are like unbridled camels. Everyone's interests clash with those of others. So, even in this world, such people remain at a loss, and in the Hereafter, their loss is a certainty. They will face such an evil end that they could not even have imagined.
