Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. ➋ Several etiquettes of letter writing are learned from this letter. One is that the letter writer should introduce himself at the beginning of the letter, stating from whom the letter is. Second, the letter should begin with {’’ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ ‘‘}. Third, the letter should be brief, comprehensive, and clear. According to the words mentioned in the Quran, the name of the letter writer is before {’’ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ ‘‘}, but the commentators say that since the queen was mentioning the letter in her own words, she mentioned {’’ مِنْ سُلَيْمٰنَ ‘‘} first, otherwise {’’ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ ‘‘} comes before it, as is clear from the letters of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), in which the beginning is as follows: [ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ وَ رَسُوْلِهِ اِلٰی هِرَقْلَ عَظِيْمِ الرُّوْمِ… ] [ بخاري، بدء الوحي، باب کیف کان بدء الوحي : ۷ ]
➌ {’’ وَ اْتُوْنِيْ مُسْلِمِيْنَ ‘‘} has two meanings: one is "Come to me as obedient subjects." This reflects royal majesty. The second is "Come to me as Muslims," which expresses prophetic dignity. Both qualities were present in Solomon (peace be upon him), so the meaning would be: Present yourselves before me as Muslims; if you do not accept Islam, then you will have to be obedient subjects in any case. It is said: «{ حَتّٰى يُعْطُوا الْجِزْيَةَ عَنْ يَّدٍ وَّ هُمْ صٰغِرُوْنَ }» [ التوبۃ : ۲۹ ] "Until they pay the jizyah by hand, and they are humbled."
