Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 87) {وَ لَا تُخْزِنِيْ يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُوْنَ :} That is, on the Day of Resurrection, do not disgrace me before all creation by holding me accountable, or by punishing my father and thus disgracing me, so that people, seeing him burning in Hell, would say, "This is Abraham's father." Allah Almighty also accepted this supplication of Abraham (peace be upon him). Thus, it is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: فَيَنْظُرُ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِذِيْخٍ مُلْتَطِخٍ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِقَوَائِمِهِ فَيُلْقٰی فِي النَّارِ ] [بخاري، أحادیث الأنبیاء، باب قول اللہ تعالٰی : « واتخذ اللہ إبراہیم خلیلا » : ۳۳۵۰ ] "On the Day of Resurrection, Abraham (peace be upon him) will meet his father in such a state that his face will be dark and covered with dust. Abraham (peace be upon him) will say to him: 'Did I not tell you not to disobey me?' His father will say: 'Today I will not disobey you.' Abraham (peace be upon him) will say: 'O Lord! You promised me that You would not disgrace me on the Day when people are resurrected, so what greater humiliation can there be than my unfortunate father?' Allah Almighty will say: 'Indeed, I have made Paradise forbidden for the disbelievers.' Then it will be said: 'Abraham! What is under your feet?' He will look and suddenly there will be a hyena covered in filth, then that hyena will be seized by its legs and thrown into the Fire.'" Thus, Allah Almighty will uphold the law of making Paradise forbidden for the polytheist, and will also save Abraham (peace be upon him) from disgrace, for disgrace would be if people saw that Abraham's father was burning in the Fire. If a hyena is burning in the Fire, who would know that this is Abraham's father?

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

87-1. That is, by holding me accountable or subjecting me to punishment in front of all creation. It is mentioned in the hadith that on the Day of Judgment, when Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will see his father in a terrible state, he will once again request forgiveness for him in the court of Allah and will say, "O Allah! What could be a greater disgrace for me than this?" Allah Almighty will say, "I have made Paradise forbidden for disbelievers." Then his father will be thrown into Hell in the form of a hyena covered in filth (Sahih Bukhari).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

87. And do not disgrace me on the Day when all will be resurrected [63].

[63]
The Fate of the Father of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him):

That is, on the Day of Resurrection, do not disgrace me before all the first and the last in such a way that my father is being punished while Ibrahim is standing and watching. Thus, it is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will see his father on the Day of Resurrection in such a state that his face will be covered with darkness and dust. He will say to his father, "Did I not tell you not to disobey me?" The father will say, "Today I will not disobey you." Then Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will say to his Lord, "You promised me that You would not disgrace me on the Day of Resurrection. What greater disgrace can there be for me than that my father is being disgraced and is deprived of Your mercy?" Allah Almighty will say, "I have made Paradise forbidden for the disbelievers." Then it will be said to Hazrat Ibrahim, "Just look under your feet." When he looks, he will see a badger covered in filth (and there will be no sign of his father). Then that badger will be seized by its feet and thrown into Hell." [بخاری۔ کتاب بدء الخلق۔ باب قول اللہ __QUR_0__]

Thus, on the Day of Resurrection, the disgrace of Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will be averted by transforming the appearance of his father.
