ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ ﴿78﴾
"Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me.

(Ayah 78) {الَّذِيْ خَلَقَنِيْ فَهُوَ يَهْدِيْنِ : ’’ يَهْدِيْنِ ‘‘} is originally {’’يَهْدِيْنِيْ‘‘}; the yaa has been omitted for the sake of matching the final letters of the verses, and the kasrah of the noon is evidence of this. In the upcoming verses, in {’’ يَسْقِيْنِ ‘‘، ’’ يَشْفِيْنِ ‘‘} and {’’ يُحْيِيْنِ ‘‘}, the yaa is also omitted. From here, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) mentioned the attributes of the Lord of the worlds due to which He alone deserves worship, that is, {’’رب العالمين‘‘} is the One who created me, then He alone guides me. Here, after {’’ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَنِيْ ‘‘} (the One who created me), {’’ فَهُوَ يَهْدِيْنِ ‘‘} (then He alone guides me) is mentioned with exclusivity. The reason is that the claim of creating is not made for anyone other than Allah Almighty, requiring one to say about Allah Almighty that He alone created me, whereas the claim of guidance is made for many beings, so it is said that then He alone guides me, and no one else. The meaning is that if you accept that He created, then accept that He alone gives guidance as well. {’’ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَنِيْ ‘‘} (the One who created me) is in the past tense, because He has already created, whereas {’’ فَهُوَ يَهْدِيْنِ ‘‘} (then He guides me) is in the present tense, because the need for guidance exists at every moment, and He guides me at every moment. After creation, the most important thing is guidance, so these two are mentioned first.

78. The One who created me, and He guides [54] me.

[54] In these four verses, Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) mentioned those attributes of Allah Almighty which are not only related to his own self but are connected to every human being. And it is precisely these attributes of Allah Almighty on the basis of which every human being should worship only the One Allah. The first attribute is that He alone created me and granted me existence. This attribute of Allah Almighty is such that the polytheists of any era have never denied it. That is, when no other being has any share in my creation, then how can anyone else have a share in my worship? The second attribute is that after creating me, Allah did not leave me alone. Rather, at every stage, He guides me. This refers also to the natural guidance that is provided to every living being. For example, when a child is born, it instinctively moves towards its mother's breasts to obtain nourishment. Then Allah Himself taught it the way to suckle. In short, according to the situation and need, Allah provides guidance and support to every living being at every stage, and for the ultimate success of humans, He guides through revelation. And in this all-encompassing guidance, no other being has any share whatsoever. Therefore, how can anyone other than Allah be included in my worship?
