Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 210) {وَ مَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيٰطِيْنُ :} After mentioning that this Quran is revealed by the Lord of the worlds, which Jibreel Amin brought down upon your heart, now those people are refuted who used to say that this revelation is brought to Muhammad (peace be upon him) by devils. As Jundub bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, once the coming of Jibreel (peace be upon him) was delayed, so a woman from the Quraysh said: {’’أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْطَانُهُ‘‘} "His devil has delayed in coming to him." Upon this, these verses were revealed: «{ وَ الضُّحٰى (1) وَ الَّيْلِ اِذَا سَجٰى (2) مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَ مَا قَلٰى [ الضحٰی : ۱ تا ۳ ] "By the morning brightness! And by the night when it covers! Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor is He displeased." [ بخاري، التہجد، باب ترک القیام للمریض : ۱۱۲۵ ] Allah Almighty says that the devils do not descend with this Quran, for it to be magic, soothsaying, poetry, or incoherent dreams, because these are the assets of the devils. Then Allah Almighty has mentioned three reasons why it is impossible for the devils.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

The exegesis of this verse has been done along with the previous verse.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

The Disbelievers’ Accusation of Soothsaying Against You:

This verse is connected to the previous verse: ﴿وَإِنَّهُ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ﴾. After mentioning some conditions of those who denied the Quran in between, the original subject is resumed. Among the accusations of the disbelievers of Makkah was also this: they used to call you a soothsayer and considered you as such. Thus, Jundub bin Sufyan narrates that once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was unwell and for two or three nights did not get up for the Tahajjud prayer. A woman (A’warā’ bint Harb, the sister of Abu Sufyan, the wife of Abu Lahab) came to you and said, “Muhammad ﷺ! I think your devil has left you. He has not come to you for two or three nights.” At that time, Allah Almighty revealed these verses: ﴿وَالضُّحَىٰ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ﴾ [بخاری۔ کتاب التفسیر۔ تفسیر سورۃ والضحیٰ]
