Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 141 to 145) ➊ {كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ …:} The story of Thamud and Salih (peace be upon them) has already been mentioned earlier in Surah Al-A'raf (73 to 79), Hud (61 to 68), Al-Hijr (80 to 84), and Bani Isra'il (59). See also Surah An-Naml (45 to 53), Adh-Dhariyat (43 to 45), Al-Qamar (23 to 31), Al-Fajr (9), and Ash-Shams (11).
{ اِنِّيْ لَكُمْ رَسُوْلٌ اَمِيْنٌ:} The people of Salih (peace be upon him) also acknowledged his trustworthiness, honesty, and extraordinary capability. (See Hud: 62) The fact that his people called him {’’ اِنَّمَا اَنْتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِيْنَ ‘‘} also proves that before the proclamation of prophethood, he was considered very wise and intelligent by them, and the change in his condition, in their view, was the result of magic.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

1. The dwelling place of Thamud was Hajr, which is in the north of Hijaz; today it is called Mada'in Salih. (Aysar al-Tafasir) These were Arabs. The Prophet ﷺ, while going to Tabuk, passed by these settlements, as has been mentioned earlier.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

141. The people of Thamud [89] also denied the messengers.

The Dwelling and Characteristics of the People of Thamud:

After the first people of ‘Ad, this very people of Thamud, who are also called ‘Ad Thaniyyah (the second ‘Ad), became renowned. Allah Almighty first mentioned the people of Musa, then the people of Ibrahim, then the people of Nuh, then the first people of ‘Ad, and in fifth place, the second people of ‘Ad are mentioned. The dwelling of this people is also called Al-Hijr. This area, three to four hundred kilometers long and about one hundred kilometers wide, is located between Hijaz and Sham, and it lies on the route that goes from Madinah to Tabuk. The ways and manners of this people were almost the same as those of the first ‘Ad. They too possessed strong, tall, and robust bodies. They certainly believed in the existence of Allah Almighty, but were badly afflicted with the disease of shirk. They were a very arrogant and rebellious people. Their prominent characteristic was that they were top-class engineers and excellent stone masons. They demonstrated their skill by carving out magnificent houses from the mountains. In the same way, within the mountains themselves, they had settled entire communities.
