Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 27) ➊ { وَ يَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلٰى يَدَيْهِ:} Here, the wrongdoer refers to the polytheist who did not accept faith. The context is {’’ يٰلَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُوْلِ سَبِيْلًا ‘‘}, that is, he will bite his hands in regret, sorrow, and remorse.
➋ The tanween on { يَقُوْلُ يٰلَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُوْلِ سَبِيْلًا : ’’ سَبِيْلًا ‘‘} is for indefiniteness, meaning any path, some path, that is, on the Day of Resurrection, when the believers, no matter what level of faith they possess, are ultimately admitted to Paradise, then the disbeliever will say, "Alas! If only I had taken some path with the Messenger, if only I had adopted the companionship of the Messenger at any level." See its synonymous verse: «{ رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَوْ كَانُوْا مُسْلِمِيْنَ [ الحجر : ۲ ] for the exegesis.
