سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ﴿87﴾
They will say: "Allâh." Say: "Will you not then fear Allâh (believe in His Oneness, obey Him, believe in the Resurrection and Recompense for every good or bad deed)?"
سَيَقُولُونَ sayaqūlūna They will say
لِلَّهِ ۚ lillahi Allah
قُلْ qul Say
أَفَلَا afalā Then will not

That is, when you acknowledge that the Creator of the earth and all things within it is also one Allah, and the Owner of the heavens and the Mighty Throne is also He alone, then why do you hesitate to accept that only He alone is worthy of worship? 87. They will immediately say, "It is all Allah's." Say, "Then why do you not fear Allah?" [84]

[84] In the first verse, the question was only about the ownership of the earth and what is in it. In this verse, the question is about the ownership of the entire universe. The disbelievers of Makkah also admitted that the sole owner and controller of this entire universe is Allah Ta'ala. Now the question arises: from where did their deities get the authority to exercise control in this universe? Are they not afraid that they are making such things partners in Allah's control and authority, which do not possess the power to benefit or harm others, nor even themselves? Do they not fear such an open injustice and its consequences?
