قُل لِّمَنِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿84﴾
Say: "Whose is the earth and whosoever is therein? If you know!"

(Ayah 85,84) ➊ { قُلْ لِّمَنِ الْاَرْضُ وَ مَنْ فِيْهَاۤ …:} When the disbelievers denied the Day of Resurrection so vehemently, Allah Almighty commanded the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) to make them confess to those matters and have them say with their own tongues what they know, recognize, and accept—matters which, if they admit, will necessarily compel them to acknowledge being resurrected on the Day of Judgment. Thus, it is said: Say to them, if you truly know, then tell me, who is the owner of this earth and whatever is in it?

{ قُلْ اَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُوْنَ : ’’تَذَكُّرٌ‘‘} (tafa‘‘ul) originally means to remember. {’’ تَذَكَّرُوْنَ ‘‘} is originally {’’ تَتَذَكَّرُوْنَ ‘‘}, meaning: then why do you not remember that matter which has been placed in your nature but you have forgotten due to heedlessness, and why do you not take admonition from it? That when the owner of the earth and everything in it is only Allah Almighty, then why worship the owned instead of the Owner? And when even an ordinary person among you is not willing to refrain from questioning his slaves, or from rewarding them for their performance, or from doing justice among them, then how did you ever think about that All-Powerful and Perfectly Wise Being that He cannot or will not resurrect you, and that whatever His servants do, He will neither question them, nor reward or punish them for their deeds, nor do justice among them?
