Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 80) ➊ { وَ هُوَ الَّذِيْ يُحْيٖ وَ يُمِيْتُ …:} Along with the mention of gathering, Allah Almighty mentioned His running of the entire universe according to His will. Especially, He mentioned those actions which are opposites of each other, so that they may serve as evidence for life after death. Thus, it is said: And He alone gives life and causes death, and the alternation of night and day is also in His control. This is a proof of monotheism as well as of the Resurrection, that for the One who brings about life and death and brings darkness and light one after the other, what difficulty is there in granting you life after death and resurrecting you on the Day of Judgment to stand before Him for reckoning? It is said: «كَمَا بَدَاَكُمْ تَعُوْدُوْنَ » [ الأعراف : ۲۹ ] "Just as He originated you, so will you be brought forth again."
{ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ :} The interrogative hamzah is originally after the fa, but since its place is at the beginning of the speech, it has been brought before the fa, meaning: So do you not understand even such a clear matter? Or you may say: So do you not understand anything at all?

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

80-1. That is, the coming of day after night and night after day, then the lengthening and shortening of night and day.

80-2. So that you may understand that all of this is from that one Allah who is dominant over everything and before whom everything is humbled.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

80. And He is the One who gives life and causes death [81], and the alternation of night and day is in His control. Will you not then understand?

The Alternation of Night and Day:

That is, in this world, at every moment, He continues to bring forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living. If you reflect, you can find dozens of such examples within yourself and in your surroundings. Likewise, He brings forth light from darkness and then causes the light to be lost again in darkness. The alternation of day and night, the gradual decrease in the length of days and the increase in the length of nights, and conversely, the shortening of nights and the lengthening of days, then the changes and alternations of the seasons—all these things are under His control. Then can you not understand that the Being who possesses such immense powers is also capable of gathering you together and presenting you before Himself? According to the current theory, our earth has two types of rotations: one daily, that is, around its axis in 24 hours, and the other annual, around the sun at an angle of sixty-six and a half degrees. From this, day and night come into existence and changes occur in the seasons. This is merely a difference of theory; as far as Allah’s power is concerned, everyone must acknowledge it in any case. In fact, in the current theory, the power of Allah Almighty becomes even more evident, Who has set our earth and even much larger celestial bodies in motion in such a way that they do not deviate in the least, nor can they.
