Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 49) ➊ { وَ لَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا مُوْسَى الْكِتٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُوْنَ :} Musa (peace be upon him) received the Book Torah after the drowning of the Pharaoh’s people, as mentioned in Surah Al-A’raf (136 to 145), where after the drowning of Pharaoh, Musa (peace be upon him) secluded himself on Mount Tur for forty nights and after the event concerning the vision of Allah, the Book was given to him in the form of tablets. Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “Allah Almighty revealed the Torah to Musa (peace be upon him) after drowning Pharaoh and the Copts, and after revealing the Torah, He did not destroy any nation with a general punishment, rather He commanded the believers to fight against the disbelievers, as Allah Almighty said: «وَ لَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا مُوْسَى الْكِتٰبَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَاۤ اَهْلَكْنَا الْقُرُوْنَ الْاُوْلٰى بَصَآىِٕرَ لِلنَّاسِ وَ هُدًى وَّ رَحْمَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُوْنَ » [ القصص : ۴۳ ] ‘And indeed, We gave Musa the Book after We had destroyed the former generations, as enlightenment for the people and guidance and mercy, so that they might take heed.’ Therefore, in {’’ لَعَلَّهُمْ ‘‘} (so that they), the pronoun {’’هُمْ‘‘} will be considered for the Children of Israel only, not for the Pharaoh’s people.

{ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُوْنَ :} That is, the Book was so that the Children of Israel might receive guidance, but even after finding a prophet among themselves, witnessing his miracles with their own eyes, and hearing the Book revealed to him, most of them did not follow the straight path. As the stories of their disobedience are mentioned repeatedly in the Quran. The Muslim Ummah is warned that beware, your condition should not become like theirs.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

49-1 Imam Ibn Kathir states that Musa (علیہ السلام) was given the Torah after Pharaoh and his people were drowned. And after the revelation of the Torah, Allah did not destroy any nation with a general punishment. Rather, the believers were commanded to perform jihad against the disbelievers.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided [50].

Refutation of the Rejecters of Sunnah:

Two things are understood from this verse: first, that the Book, the Torah, was given to Musa (Moses) ؑ after the drowning of Pharaoh and his chiefs. Second, that the commands given to Musa ؑ before the revelation of the Torah were also equally obligatory to follow for Musa ؑ and those who believed in him, just as the commands of the Torah were. From this, it is concluded that, in addition to the Book of Allah, much else is also revealed to a Prophet from Allah. And following that is just as obligatory as following the Book of Allah. In this is a complete refutation of those who say that the Quran alone is sufficient for our guidance.
