Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 21) ➊ { وَ اِنَّ لَكُمْ فِي الْاَنْعَامِ لَعِبْرَةً :} In the previous verses, the mention was made of the vegetation produced with water, in which there is evidence of life after death and a reminder of Allah’s blessings. Now, in order to instill certainty about life after death and to make one aware of His blessings and powers, the mention is made of a creation with a higher degree of life than plants, which are the cattle possessing souls. In {’’ لَعِبْرَةً ‘‘}, the tanween is for magnification, hence the translation is “a great lesson.”
{ نُسْقِيْكُمْ مِّمَّا فِيْ بُطُوْنِهَا :} For its details, see Surah An-Nahl (66).
{ وَ لَكُمْ فِيْهَا مَنَافِعُ كَثِيْرَةٌ :} For its details, see Surah Al-An’am (142), Surah An-Nahl (5 to 8, 66, 80), Surah Al-Hajj (27, 28, 32, 33, 36, 37), and Surah Al-Mu’min (79).
{ وَ مِنْهَا تَاْكُلُوْنَ :} That is, you eat their meat, and these cattle, through buying and selling, become a means for you to obtain food, drink, and necessities of life.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

The exegesis of this verse has been done along with the previous verse.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

21. And indeed, there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We give you to drink from what is in their bellies (milk) [24], and you have many other benefits from them, and some of them you eat [25].

How and When is Milk Produced?

There is a lesson or a wondrous thing in cattle that when the food enters the bodies of these grass-eating and grazing animals (females), besides blood and waste or dung, a third thing is also produced from it. This third thing is entirely different in its qualities from the other two. Both blood and dung are impure and forbidden things, whereas milk is extremely pure, lawful, wholesome, of a very white color, sweet in taste, pleasant to drink, and serves as a complete food. It removes both hunger and thirst. The astonishing act of Allah Almighty in this is that He has fitted such machinery in the bodies of the females that transforms something like grass into a very superior and valuable thing. And even more amazing is that this machinery only comes into action when pregnancy occurs, and its result does not appear immediately. Rather, by the time the child is born, this machinery becomes capable of producing milk. As soon as the child is born, the mother’s breasts are filled with milk, and as soon as the child reaches for the mother’s breasts, this natural food is immediately available to it, while it is not capable of consuming any other food. And if the mother does not become pregnant, then despite the fact that this very machinery made of flesh, skin, and veins exists within her, it will never function, nor will milk be produced, nor will it descend into the breasts.

The Benefits of Cattle:

Every single thing of cattle is useful to humans. Their skin, their hair, their bones—in short, humans benefit from everything. When alive, they are used for riding, and they are also used for farming and carrying loads. Then their meat is used by humans as food, and the milk obtained from them surpasses all these benefits.
