74. 1. This is the reason why people declare His powerless creation to be His equal and partner. If they had a true and accurate estimation and knowledge of Allah Almighty's greatness and majesty, His power and might, and His boundlessness, they would never associate anyone with His divinity.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. They have not valued Allah [103] as He should be valued. Surely, Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty.
[103] The Vastness of the Universe and Its Control as Proof of Allah’s Existence and Power:
That is, they have never reflected upon the power of Allah Almighty, Who brought this entire universe and themselves from non-existence into existence, and Who granted them life. If they had reflected upon any of Allah Almighty’s works, they would never have committed the folly of associating weak and helpless creatures with His authority and control. For example:
The vastness of the universe is such that, according to current research, nine planets revolve around the sun, of which our earth is the third, and its distance from the sun is 93 million miles. The ninth and last planet is Pluto, whose distance from the sun is 3680 million miles. In terms of size, our earth is utterly insignificant compared to the other planets. In our solar system, the sun is a star or a fixed star. Thousands of such stars or fixed stars have been observed in the universe, and these stars or suns are much larger in size than our sun. Far beyond our solar system, at a distance of about 400 billion kilometers, there is a sun which appears to us as a tiny point of light; its name is Alfa Centauris. Similarly, other suns are even farther away and are scattered throughout space, each separate from the other. At night, they appear in the sky as tiny points of light. All these stars are actually very large bodies and, like our sun, are self-luminous. In terms of size, planets and stars have been divided into four categories. The first category is called white dwarfs, whose average size is considered equal to Jupiter, and Jupiter’s size is equal to the combined size of the other eight planets in the solar system (including our earth). Our sun falls into the second category, and its size is 337,000 times greater than our earth, meaning that even our huge sun is not among the largest stars. The third category of stars is called giants, and the fourth category is called super giants. Compared to such stars, our sun is as insignificant as our earth is compared to the sun. One such star is called Antares. If it were placed in the solar system, the entire area from the sun to Mars would fit inside it, while Mars is 141.5 million miles from the sun. Thus, the diameter of Antares is about 283 million miles. Furthermore, the countless clusters of stars and galaxies in the universe leave astronomers astonished and constantly challenge their knowledge. Even more astonishing is that as astronomers use more powerful and modern telescopes, it is being revealed that the universe is expanding even further. The distances between planets are also increasing, and new celestial bodies are being observed. Now, the other aspect is that our earth is revolving around the sun at the lightning speed of 66,600 miles per hour. Similarly, all the planets in the universe are revolving at more or less the same speed. And Allah Almighty has so bound them that they neither collide with each other, nor does their movement change, nor can they deviate even an inch from their orbits. And the more a person reflects upon these powers of Allah Almighty, the more the greatness and majesty of Allah becomes imprinted upon his heart. Now, on one hand, there is the Being of Allah Almighty, possessing such greatness, majesty, strength, and power, and on the other hand, such deities and helpers are being associated with Him who cannot even create a fly; rather, they are so helpless that if a fly snatches something from them, they do not have the power to retrieve it from the fly. Reflect: can any comparison be made between the power of these two? And the reality is that those who associate others with Allah do so only because they have never reflected upon the powers of Allah Almighty in any matter, nor have they ever tried to recognize the power of Allah Almighty; otherwise, they would never have committed such folly.
