Thus it is [what has been mentioned in the above said Verses (27, 28, 29, 30, 31) is an obligation that mankind owes to Allâh] and whosoever honours the Symbols of Allâh, then it is truly from the piety of the hearts.

See the exegesis of (Ayah 30){ ذٰلِكَوَمَنْيُّعَظِّمْشَعَآىِٕرَاللّٰهِ …:’’ ذٰلِكَ ‘‘}. {’’ شَعَآىِٕرَ ‘‘ ’’شَعِيْرَةٌ‘‘} is the plural, the active participle meaning {’’ مُشْعِرَةٌ ‘‘}, from which there is awareness of something (signs), that is, those things which Allah Almighty has appointed to make one aware of His greatness. Whoever honors them, it is due to the piety of hearts, meaning, whoever has fear of Allah in his heart will surely honor them. Everything whose visitation Allah has commanded, or in which Allah Almighty has commanded any act of Hajj, is included in {’’شعائر الله‘‘}. The sacrificial animals are also included in {’’شعائر الله‘‘}, as He said: «{ وَالْبُدْنَجَعَلْنٰهَالَكُمْمِّنْشَعَآىِٕرِاللّٰهِ }»[ الحج : ۳۶ ] “And the large sacrificial animals, We have made them for you among the signs of Allah.” Honoring them means not causing them any harm as they come, buying valuable animals and not buying defective ones, putting a good covering on them, feeding and watering them well, and adorning them, as is evident from putting collars around their necks, not riding them except out of necessity, as will be mentioned in the hadith ahead, and after sacrifice, giving away their coverings, etc., in charity. Although the honoring of {’’شعائر الله‘‘} has already been mentioned in the honoring of {’’ حُرُمٰتِاللّٰهِ ‘‘}, the meaning of {’’ حُرُمٰتِ ‘‘ } is broad and general, while {’’ شَعَآىِٕرَ ‘‘} is specific, so to emphasize the honoring of {’’شعائر الله‘‘}, it has been mentioned again separately.

32. 1. Sha'air is the plural of sha'irah, which means sign and symbol, just as in war a shiar (a specific word as a symbol) is adopted by which they recognize each other among themselves. In this sense, Sha'air Allah are those which are the prominent distinguishing commands of Islam, by which the distinction and identity of a Muslim is established and he is recognized as separate from the followers of other religions. The hills of Safa and Marwah are also called Sha'air Allah because Muslims perform sa'i between them during Hajj and Umrah. Here, other rites of Hajj, especially the sacrificial animals, are called Sha'air Allah. This reverence is considered the piety of the heart. That is, it is from those actions of the heart whose foundation is piety.

32. These (matters are to be avoided), and whoever honors the symbols of Allah, then surely this [50] is from the piety of hearts.
[50] That is, the person in whose heart the fear of Allah and the love of Allah are established will certainly show respect for those things that are associated with His name or are called the symbols of Allah (Sha'air Allah). Only a person who has neither the fear of Allah nor His love in his heart can insult, disrespect, or show irreverence towards these things. It should be clear that showing reverence or respect for things associated with the name of Allah is not shirk, but is in fact pure tawheed. Shirk is to show the same kind of reverence and respect for things associated with others besides Allah as is shown for things associated with Allah.
