Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 88){ وَكَذٰلِكَنُـْۨجِيالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ :} It has two meanings and both are intended: one is that just as We accepted the supplication of Yunus (peace be upon him) and delivered him from distress, in the same way We accept the supplications of the believers and deliver them from distress. The second is that just as We delivered Yunus (peace be upon him) from distress with this supplication, in the same way We deliver the believers from distress with this supplication. Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ دَعْوَةُذِيالنُّوْنِإِذْدَعَاوَهُوَفِيْبَطْنِالْحُوْتِ« لَاۤاِلٰهَاِلَّاۤاَنْتَسُبْحٰنَكَاِنِّيْكُنْتُمِنَالظّٰلِمِيْنَ»فَإِنَّهٗلَمْيَدْعُبِهَارَجُلٌمُسْلِمٌفِيْشَيْءٍقَطُّإِلَّااسْتَجَابَاللّٰهُلَهٗ ][ ترمذي، الدعوات، باب في دعوۃ ذي النون : ۳۵۰۵۔ مسند أحمد : 170/1، ح : ۱۶۴۴، و صححہ الألباني ] “The supplication of Dhun-Nun (Yunus, peace be upon him), which he made in the belly of the fish « لَاۤاِلٰهَاِلَّاۤاَنْتَسُبْحٰنَكَاِنِّيْكُنْتُمِنَالظّٰلِمِيْنَ» no Muslim man supplicates with it for anything except that Allah Almighty accepts his supplication.”

88. 1. We accepted the supplication of Yunus (علیہ السلام) and saved him from the darkness and from the belly of the fish, and whoever among the believers calls upon Us in this way during hardships and calamities, We will save him. It is mentioned in the hadith that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Any Muslim who supplicates with this supplication for any matter, Allah will accept it." (Jami' Tirmidhi No. 355 and authenticated by Al-Albani)
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani

So We answered his prayer and rescued him from his distress. And thus do We deliver the believers [78].
[78] That is, Allah’s forgiving of past mistakes and bestowing further blessings upon calling out to Him with humility is not exclusive to Prophet Yunus ؑ alone, but whoever among the believers calls upon Us in this manner, We will deliver them from hardships. Prophet Yunus ؑ continued to supplicate with this prayer in the belly of the fish: ﴿لَّآاِلٰهَاِلَّآاَنْتَسُبْحٰنَكَاِنِّيْكُنْتُمِنَالظّٰلِمِيْنَ﴾. There are many virtues of this supplication mentioned in the hadith, and the Ummah has found this supplication to be very effective in times of hardship and distress.
