Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 7) ➊ {وَمَاۤاَرْسَلْنَاقَبْلَكَاِلَّارِجَالًا … :} This is the answer to {’’ هَلْهٰذَاۤاِلَّابَشَرٌمِّثْلُكُمْ ‘‘} (Is he anything but a man like you?), meaning all those messengers who came before you, whose messengership they also acknowledge, such as Ibrahim, Ismail, and Ishaq (peace be upon them) and others, they were all humans to whom We sent revelation. So why do these people not accept you as a messenger just because you are a human? See Surah Al-An'am (91). Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: [ كَانَبَشَرًامِّنَالْبَشَرِيَفْلِيْثَوْبَهُوَيَحْلِبُشَاتَهُوَيَخْدِمُنَفْسَهُ ][ مسند أحمد : 256/6، ح : ۲۶۲۴۸۔ سلسلۃ الأحادیث الصحیحۃ : ۶۷۱ ] "He (peace and blessings be upon him) was a human among humans, he would search his own clothes, milk his own goat, and do his own work." If angels lived on earth, then the messenger would also be an angel, but now humans inhabit it, so the example and guide for them can only be a human. See Surah Bani Isra'il (94, 95). ➋ {فَسْـَٔلُوْۤااَهْلَالذِّكْرِ … :} For a detailed explanation of this sentence, see Surah An-Nahl (43).

7. 1. That is, all prophets were male humans; neither has any non-human ever been a prophet nor any non-male. Thus, prophethood has always been exclusive to humans, and among humans, only to men. From this, it is understood that no woman has ever become a prophet. Therefore, prophethood is also among those duties which are outside the natural and inherent sphere of women.
7. 2. By اَھْلَالذِّکْرِ (people of knowledge) is meant the People of the Book, who possessed knowledge of the previous heavenly scriptures. Ask them whether the previous prophets who have passed were human or non-human? They will tell you that all prophets were indeed human.
