Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). (Ayah 6){ مَاۤاٰمَنَتْقَبْلَهُمْمِّنْقَرْيَةٍ … :} In this verse, three points have been stated with great brevity. ➊ The first is that you have demanded a miracle like the previous messengers as a condition for believing, but the previous nations were shown such miracles, and they did not believe. So how will you, who are even more rebellious and stubborn than them, believe? See Surah Bani Isra'il (59). ➋ The second is that the nations who did not believe after seeing miracles were destroyed, because a nation that does not believe after witnessing a clear miracle with their own eyes is destroyed. So why do you make such a demand, the result of which is your own destruction? ➌ The third is that not showing you a miracle is Allah Almighty’s mercy upon you, as He has granted you respite, and in His knowledge, it is destined that many generations among you will become Muslim. For details, see the commentary of Surah Al-Ankabut (48 to 51).

6. 1. That is, among all the towns We destroyed before them, it never happened that they believed upon being shown a miracle as per their wishes; rather, even after witnessing the miracle, they did not believe, as a result of which destruction became their destiny. So, if the people of Makkah are shown any sign according to their wish, will they believe? No, never. They too will persist on the path of denial and stubbornness.
