Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 51) ➊ {وَلَقَدْاٰتَيْنَاۤاِبْرٰهِيْمَرُشْدَهٗ … : ’’رُشْدٌ‘‘} Guidance and the straight path, this word comes in contrast to {’’غَيٌّ‘‘}, as He said: «{ قَدْتَّبَيَّنَالرُّشْدُمِنَالْغَيِّ}»[ البقرۃ : ۲۵۶ ] "Indeed, guidance has become distinct from error." And also in the meaning of understanding and intelligence, as He said: «{ فَاِنْاٰنَسْتُمْمِّنْهُمْرُشْدًا }»[ النساء : ۶ ] "Then if you perceive some intelligence in them." {’’ رُشْدَهٗ ‘‘} Meaning, the understanding that was appropriate for him.
➋ { مِنْقَبْلُ :} Meaning, before Musa and Harun (peace be upon them) or before granting prophethood. Some have said after coming out of the cave. For details, see Surah Al-An'am (75 to 79).
➌ { وَكُنَّابِهٖعٰلِمِيْنَ :} Meaning, We knew what qualities and abilities We had placed in him. However many virtues of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) may be mentioned, this testimony of Allah is greater than all of them. This rank is only granted to the one who, in Allah's knowledge, is worthy of it. He said: «{اَللّٰهُاَعْلَمُحَيْثُيَجْعَلُرِسَالَتَهٗ }»[ الأنعام : ۱۲۴ ] "Allah knows best where He places His message."
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
51. 1 مِنْقَبْلُ refers to the fact that the event of granting guidance (or wisdom) to Ibrahim ؑ is prior to the beginning of the Torah for Musa ؑ; this means that Ibrahim ؑ was granted wisdom even before prophethood.
51. 2 That is, We knew that he was worthy of this guidance and that he would use it properly.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
And indeed, before this We gave Ibrahim wisdom [46], and We were well aware of him.
[46] The Meaning of ﴿رشد﴾:
By ﴿رُشد﴾ is meant such wisdom and intelligence by which a person becomes capable of distinguishing between his benefit and harm, good and bad, and good and evil, and is able to accept what is beneficial and reject what is harmful, whether this benefit or harm is worldly or related to the Hereafter. That is, Allah Almighty is saying that long before Musa (Moses) ؑ, We had granted Ibrahim (Abraham) ؑ wisdom and sound intellect. He was not a follower of the customs and traditions of his time, but was accustomed to thinking for himself about the benefit and harm of every matter. And We were well aware of his circumstances and knew that he was truly deserving of divine messengership. Therefore, We granted him prophethood, even though this wisdom was also granted to him by Us.
