(Ayah 15){ فَمَازَالَتْتِّلْكَدَعْوٰىهُمْ … : ’’ حَصِيْدًا ‘‘ ’’حَصَدَيَحْصُدُ‘‘} (to cut with a sickle) is on the pattern of {’’فَعِيْلٌ‘‘} in the sense of the passive participle ({مَحْصُوْدٌ}). They kept crying out like this until We made them like a mown field [13], extinguished and piled up there.
[13] When the Divine Punishment Arrives, It Cannot Be Stopped by Believing at That Time:
It has always been the habit of the disobedient and rebellious people of Allah that they do not become upright without the rod. When the divine punishment descends upon them and they see death standing before them, then at that moment they begin to confess their sins and are immediately ready to believe. However, just as the divine punishment does not suddenly befall and there is a set law of gradualness and examples for its coming, in the same way, there is a law that when it arrives, then it certainly takes place and cannot be averted, and the name and trace of that nation is wiped out from the face of existence.
