أَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِ ۖ أَفَعَصَيْتَ أَمْرِى ﴿93﴾
"That you followed me not (according to my advice to you)? Have you then disobeyed my order?"

93. 1. That is, if they had refused to obey you, then you should have immediately come after me to Mount Tur and informed me; but you also did not care for my command. That is, you did not fulfill the right of succession properly.

That you should not follow me? Did you disobey my command [64]?

[64] Hearing this feeble excuse from his people, Musaؑ, still in a state of anger, turned towards his brother Harun and, in a fit of rage, grabbed his beard and the hair of his head, saying: I left you as my deputy and specifically instructed you to keep a close watch on these people’s affairs. So when you saw them indulging in shirk, why did you not stop them? What was it that stood in your way, so that you even forbade them? Did you completely forget my instruction to keep a strict watch over this corrupt nation and to make every effort to reform them?
