Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

أَفِيْضُوْا عَلَيْهِمْ، فَيَنْبُتُوْنَ نَبَاتَ الْحِبَّةِ تَكُوْنُ فِيْ حَمِيْلِ السَّيْلِ ] [ مسلم، الإیمان، باب إثبات الشفاعۃ و إخراج الموحدین من النار : ۱۸۵، عن أبي سعید الخدري رضی اللہ عنہ ] "The people of the Fire, who are to remain therein, will neither die in it nor live, but there will be some people whom the Fire will afflict due to their sins, so Allah will cause them to die a kind of death. When they become like charcoal, permission for intercession will be granted. Then they will be brought in heaps and scattered on the banks of the rivers of Paradise. It will be said: O people of Paradise! Pour water over them, so they will sprout forth just as seeds sprout in the silt brought by a flood." For the explanation of "neither will he die nor live," see Surah Fatir (36), Ibrahim (15–17), Nisa (56), A'la (11–13), and Zukhruf (77).

74. 1. That is, being distressed by the punishment, they will wish for death, but death will not come, and being afflicted with punishment day and night, their food and drink will be like the bitter tree of Zaqqum and the blood oozing from the bodies of the inhabitants of Hell.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. The fact is [52] that whoever comes to his Lord as a criminal, for him is Hell, in which he will neither die [53] nor live.

[52] After the account of the believing magicians concludes, this verse and the next two verses are the speech of Allah Almighty. In these, as usual, the sequence of reminders, admonitions, and allusions continues.
[53] No matter how great and severe the hardships of this world may be, death puts an end to all of them. And the greatest punishment that the disbelievers will receive in Hell is that they will not die. He will prefer death over such a life of torment and will demand it, but he will not be granted death. And life will be even worse than death.
