Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 52) ➊ {قَالَعِلْمُهَاعِنْدَرَبِّيْ :} That is, I have no argument about their condition; they have reached their Lord, with whom the record of all their deeds and intentions exists. They will be rewarded exactly according to their deeds. We should be concerned about our own condition—how can we save ourselves from becoming deserving of punishment? This is a most wise answer, which is also correct, and thus Pharaoh was not successful in his objective.
➋ { فِيْكِتٰبٍلَايَضِلُّرَبِّيْوَلَايَنْسَى :} Since written statements are considered more reliable, Allah Almighty appointed noble scribes to complete the argument against people, who are preparing the record for each person. At the same time, it has been clarified that the purpose of writing in the book is not that Allah needs writing to avoid error or forgetfulness—no! Rather, Allah is free from both of these deficiencies, as He is from every deficiency. There is also a subtle rebuke in this, because there is no need to say that the Creator and Guide of everything neither errs nor forgets. In fact, this is being said to Pharaoh: You, in whose nature wandering and forgetfulness have been placed—did you not feel any shame in claiming to be the Most High Lord? Glory be to Allah!
Idols may desire divinity, the grandeur belongs to Your Majesty.
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
52. 1. Hazrat Musa (علیہ السلام) replied, "Neither you nor I have knowledge of that. However, their knowledge is with my Lord, which is present with Him in the Book. He will give reward and punishment according to it. Then His knowledge encompasses everything in such a way that nothing, big or small, can be hidden from His sight, nor can He ever forget. Whereas both these deficiencies exist in the knowledge of the creation. Firstly, their knowledge does not encompass everything, rather it is incomplete. Secondly, after knowing, they can also forget. My Lord is free from both these deficiencies." Further, more attributes of the Lord are being mentioned.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
52. Moses replied, "The knowledge of them is with my Lord in a Book [34]. My Lord [35] neither errs nor forgets."
[34] If Musa (peace be upon him) had answered Pharaoh’s question by saying that all of them were misguided and would face the punishment of Hell, then although this answer would have been correct, all of Pharaoh’s courtiers would have flared up in anger and immediately united against both of them, and Pharaoh would have succeeded in his objective. But Musa (peace be upon him) gave such a wise answer that was based on reality and did not hurt anyone’s prejudiced feelings. He replied in clear words that there is no need for us to know the conditions of those who have passed away; they know and their Lord knows. We should only be concerned about ourselves: what way of life we choose and what our end will be.
[35] Forgetfulness and Error are Impossible for Allah:
That is, in the matter of creating His creation, the law of guidance that Allah Almighty has established—He neither forgets nor errs in it, nor in giving anyone the reward or punishment for their good or bad deeds. At this point in the Quran, the mention of Sayyiduna Musa comes to an end, and it seems that here the first conversation between Pharaoh and Sayyiduna Musa is concluding. In the following verses, the arguments for Tawheed that are presented and the admonitions that are given are from Allah Almighty and are for all people.
