Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 47) ➊ { فَاْتِيٰهُفَقُوْلَاۤاِنَّارَسُوْلَارَبِّكَ … :} Allah Almighty commanded to convey three things to Pharaoh: the first is the call to monotheism, that he is not the Lord, rather, the One who is your Lord, and when He is the Lord of those who claim to be lords like you, then there is no doubt that He is the Lord of all creation. The second is the call to prophethood, that we are sent by your Lord and have come to you with His message. The third is the demand for the freedom of the nation, that after inviting you to believe in the oneness of the Lord and our prophethood, we have brought this special message to you: set the Children of Israel free and send them with me so that they may go and live freely in Allah’s land, and release them from the various kinds of punishments with which you have afflicted them. It is clear that in the call of Islam, freeing enslaved and oppressed nations from bondage is also included. To say that this is not jihad in the way of Allah is incorrect. See Surah Al-Baqarah (246 to 252). ➋ { قَدْجِئْنٰكَبِاٰيَةٍمِّنْرَّبِّكَ :} This is the detail of the statement, “We have come as messengers from your Lord,” meaning, be certain that we have come from your Lord with a sign and proof of our prophethood. If you believe without seeing it, that is very good; otherwise, we are ready to present it as well. ➌ { وَالسَّلٰمُعَلٰىمَنِاتَّبَعَالْهُدٰى :} In this, along with those who follow guidance, there is also peace for Pharaoh, if he accepts guidance. It is clear that if he does not accept guidance, then there is no peace for him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) also wrote to the disbelieving kings, Caesar and Chosroes, etc., in his letters: [ اَلسَّلَامُعَلٰیمَنِاتَّبَعَالْهُدٰی][ بخاري : ۶۲۶۰ ] “Peace be upon the person who accepts Islam,” meaning, for those who do not believe, there is neither a prayer for peace nor any way of safety from Allah’s grasp. The Prophet (peace be upon him) wrote to all of them: [ أَسْلِمْتَسْلَمْ ][ بخاري : ۷ ] “Accept Islam and you will be safe.”
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
47. 1. This is not a greeting of salutation, but rather an invitation towards peace and security. Just as the Prophet ﷺ wrote in the letter to the Roman emperor Heraclius: و اَسْلِمْ ، تَسْلَمْ (Accept Islam, you will be in peace). In this way, at the beginning of the letter, he also wrote (وَالسَّلٰمُعَلٰيمَنِاتَّبَعَالْهُدٰى) 20. Ta Ha:47) (Ibn Kathir). This means that if one has to address a non-Muslim in a letter or gathering, he should be greeted with these words, which are conditional upon adopting guidance.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
47. So go to him and say, 'We are messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us [31] and do not torment them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord, and peace will be upon whoever follows guidance.'
[31] Five Points for Inviting Pharaoh:
It is as if a five-point program for invitation was given to these prophets before Pharaoh. Out of these, four are fundamental points of the call to religion, and one is a demand. The first point was to say to him that we are messengers of your Lord. In this, there are two points: one, that you are not the Lord of the people, but rather that Being is the Lord of everything, ours and especially yours as well; the second point is that both of us have come to you sent by that Lord, not on our own accord. Thus, in this one statement, both the mention of Tawheed and Risalah is included. The third point was to stop oppressing the Children of Israel and to free them from your slavery and let them go with us so that they may live a free life, and this third point was specifically in accordance with such circumstances. The fourth point was that whoever believes in this path of guidance, that is, in the Oneness of Allah and our Prophethood, and worships Allah alone and obeys us, for him there will be peace and security in this world and also in the Hereafter. And the fifth was that we have been informed by revelation that whoever turns away from our invitation, in the end there will be punishment for him. Thus, in the fourth and fifth points, the invitation to the very important component of faith, belief in the Hereafter, was presented. And along with this, it was also said that our claim of Prophethood is not without proof, rather we have come to you with a sign from your Lord.
