قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآ ۖ إِنَّنِى مَعَكُمَآ أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ ﴿46﴾

He (Allâh) said: "Fear not, verily I am with you both, hearing and seeing.

(Ayah 46) ➊ { اِنَّنِيْ مَعَكُمَاۤ :} Surely, I am with you both, although Allah is with everyone. He said: «{ وَ هُوَ مَعَكُمْ اَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ }» [ الحدید : ۴ ] “And He is with you wherever you are.” But here, what is meant is a special companionship, that is, I will protect and help you in every way, just as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): «{ لَا تَحْزَنْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَنَا }» [ التوبۃ : ۴۰ ] “Do not grieve, surely Allah is with us.” Reflect: two men from an oppressed, helpless, and enslaved nation go to the owner of all the resources of Egypt, guarded by a mighty army, who claims to be Lord and deity. Apparently, they have nothing but a staff, yet no guard can stop them, nor does any soldier dare to prevent them. They go straight into Pharaoh’s crowded court, without fear or danger, and deliver Allah’s message. They answer his every question and expose every one of his deceptions, until he is left speechless and threatens imprisonment, but he neither dares to imprison them nor to do any other harm. What greater demonstration of Allah’s being with someone could there be than this?

➋ { اَسْمَعُ وَ اَرٰى :} I am not like other senders who send their messenger and can neither see him nor hear his words; rather, I am with you at all times, hearing every word of yours and everyone else’s, and seeing every deed. I will not allow any matter or action to occur that you fear.

46. 1. You will go to Pharaoh and whatever he says in response, I will be listening, and I will be observing your and his behavior. Accordingly, I will help you and thwart his schemes, so go to him; there is no need to worry.
