وَٱحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِى ﴿27﴾
"And loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) [That occurred as a result of a brand of fire which Mûsâ (Moses) put in his mouth when he was an infant]. (Tafsir At-Tabarî).

(Ayah 27 to 30) ➊ { وَ احْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّنْ لِّسَانِيْ …:} Surah Ash-Shu'ara, Ayah (13): «{ وَ يَضِيْقُ صَدْرِيْ وَ لَا يَنْطَلِقُ لِسَانِيْ shows that Musa (peace be upon him) did not have such fluency in his speech as he considered necessary to convey Allah’s message. This very weakness was seized by Pharaoh to taunt him, as he said: «{ وَ لَا يَكَادُ يُبِيْنُ [ الزخرف : ۵۲ ] “And he (Musa) can hardly express himself clearly.” Although Pharaoh’s words are not to be trusted, as it was not beyond him to make false accusations. In short! For this, he made two supplications: first, “O my Lord! Remove some knot from my tongue, so that people may understand my speech.” The meaning of “some knot” is indicated by the tanween in {’’ عُقْدَةً ‘‘}. Instead of praying for the complete removal of the knot from his tongue, he requested prophethood for his brother Harun (peace be upon him), saying that he is more eloquent than me and will help bear my burden among my family. The scholars say that no brother has ever prayed for his brother better than Musa (peace be upon him) did. Some tafsirs mention that Musa (peace be upon him) put a burning coal in his mouth as a child, but this is from the Isra’ili narrations, from which no certainty can be derived.

{ وَ اجْعَلْ لِّيْ وَزِيْرًا … :} That is, a helper who will share with me in bearing this great burden. Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) writes: “Such great prophets do not have (complete) attention towards all of creation; a deputy is needed to explain matters to the people gently. The deputy of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him); in the beginning, it was through Abu Bakr’s (may Allah be pleased with him) preaching that many people accepted Islam, who are counted among the senior Companions.” (Mawdhih)
