And thus do We requite him who transgresses beyond bounds [i.e. commits the great sins and disobeys his Lord (Allâh) and believes not in His Messengers, and His revealed Books, like this Qur’an], and believes not in the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord; and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting.

(Ayah 127) ➊ {وَكَذٰلِكَنَجْزِيْ … :} That is, in the same way, every criminal will be recompensed according to his crime. ➋ { مَنْاَسْرَفَ … :} The greatest transgressor is the one who associates anyone with Allah in His essence or attributes, and then the one who, exceeding the station of servitude (worship), becomes so arrogant that he follows his own desires and does not obey any command of his Creator and Master. ➌ {وَلَعَذَابُالْاٰخِرَةِ … :} That is, although the life of this world and the constricted life of the grave, being raised blind on the Day of Resurrection, and being forgotten by Allah on the Day of Judgment—each of these is a great punishment—yet the punishment of the Hereafter, that is, the final stage (Hell), is the most severe and the most enduring. So severe that its fire is seventy times hotter than the fire of this world, and so enduring that the inhabitants of Hell will wish for death to escape it, but death will have been slaughtered. That is why it is said: «{ لَايَمُوْتُفِيْهَاوَلَايَحْيٰى }»[ طٰہٰ : ۷۴ ] "Neither will he die therein nor will he live." There will be no way for them to escape from Hell.
